Well, I'd take them with shield and wings in a mech army.
By the way, if you wall of armor moves forward then first move the Dread.
If the psychic test for wings fails your wall will eventually get slowed down.

I don't like him. He's still just an armor 12 dread in a melta rich environment... and it doesnt matter how many extra powers he has. The more they pay for him the better.

He's armor 13, moves 12" and assaults 6". He has some faults, but melta isn't at the top of the list.

:-) Was a bit better pre-FAQ when you could use the heavy flamer, etc... Still, my FT's field one almost every game... Surprising how well it really does in a drop force...

It adds a scare factor too. No one wants a fast moving dread to get near you, so its a high priority. Use that to your advantage.

It's a dice gun. Killing the Libby with one shot from a melta isn't guaranteed either. It's still a useful piece in a BA army because it gets a blood fist and Force Weapon and can pretty reliably cover 18 inches in a turn with Wings.

I run 3 trygons and 6 hive guard, I could care less about dreads of any kind

Well......a libby dread sucking up multiple meltas is actually a good thing for the rest of the army.

It's oly like 175 points, not too bad for AV13 that HAS to die and can't be left to do what it pleases.

Esp. with BA, they have much high priority AV 13/fast moving troopers in jumppacks or meched up. Armor Saturation manes it's a win/win.

I guess the only fault of the Libby Dread I can see is the oppurtunity cost of taking up an Elite Slot and for not being cheaper.

I know I don't think it's expensive for what you get, with respect to my not jumping into the Werewolf/Vampire Marin bandwagon.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Seems to be an anti-Dread army anyway. Lol

Umm.. a lib dread will murder hive guard in CC, and a it can avoid your trygons with jumppack movement. What do you do when facing 3 lib dreads and Mephiston?

Hive guard arent there to wrestle you dreadnought, they are there to punch it in the face with harpoons from 2 feet away. As far as trygons are concerned, I generally run them with my army. So it charges hive guard, kills 1, and then gets counter charged by a trygon and explodes.

I like them! Wings and Unleash Rage are my favourite powers (remember he can only use one per turn). AV13 makes him practically invulnerable once in combat and his S6 force weapon murders characters and MCs.

He's awesome. I'd take three if I could.

You can only cast a single power per player turn not game turn, which is why most people take Shield as you cast it in the enemies shooting phase.

I wouldn't want to take on a proper Dread army (4-5+ Dreads) with 6 Hive Guard and 3 Trygons, the Hive Guard won't get through the AV13 + Shield fast enough and the Trygons are roughly equal in combat with the Dreads except there is going to be 4-5 Dreads to take them on + they are probably going to be backed up by better shooting as well (and maybe Mephiston who eats Trygons easily).
