Why the 2 lvl 2's? Wouldn't an exalted hero work better with the marauders? Or are all your sorcerers running by themselves?

Besides that looks solid to me.

The Sorc Lord and BSB go with the Halberd Warriors, the Puppet Sorcerer goes with the Shield Warriors(both units run 6x3), and the Golden Eye Sorcerer hangs out 3 inches from the Halberd Warriors for Smoke and Mirrior miscast games with the Sorc Lord* and has the +4 LOS!.

*In the event of the Sorc Lord miscasting, swap out of the Warrior unit for minimal damage.

Is there a FAQ on Smoke and Mirrors? Applying the miscast occurs after the spell is resolved. Applying Smoke and Mirrors occurs after the spell is resolved. Which comes first?

As for the list - I think you could do with 1 less wizard, even if the the smoke and mirrors game works.

I have to agree with RanTheCid you don't need that many wizards in 8th Ed. 6 Levels is about the maximum you'd ever need.

All those points tied up in a Wizard that is unlikely to ever caste a spell?

Well, there is no FAQ, but the wording for Smoke and Mirriors is that you do it immediatly after the spell is resolved. While the wording for miscasts is that you resolve the spell first, then roll for the miscast. It just seems like Smoke and Mirriors takes precedient.

The reason I have a 2nd sorcerer is that it seems silly to put a Exalted Hero there to play Smoke and Mirriors because he'll do nothing there while the sorcerer can cast.

Anyone have any thoughts on using the Lore of Fire? I know it kind of sucks in comparison to the other BRB Lores, but it seems to fill the WoC lack of ranged fire( ) support. Something that neither the Lores of Tzeentch or Nurgle(while great Lores in their own right) seem to do.

Fire is excellent in low points games. Due to Fireball which is my favourite spell from all the BrB Lore's. Why? Because the winds of magic can be fickle and have a spell that you can caste at 5 10+ and 18+ means no matter the weather fire ball will fit your power dice .

It does nicely cover your weakness at ranged combat, but I do see it as a primarily defensive Lore with Fulminating flane cage the other major spell after Fireball.

Perhaps Heavens or Death might suit you better?

Your best bet is to pick a Lore with plenty of low casting values for the Lord and let the lower level guy(s) concentrate on the big spells where the Lords level bonus is less of a factor and where miscaste or losing concentration become increasingly likely.
