Am I right in thinking I can only buy a LandRaider as dedicated transport for terminators? I would like to put some Vets in one but the LandRaider is not mentioned in the dedicated transport options for vets, only DropPod, Rhino and RazorBack.

It only counts as a Dedicated Transport for ONE unit of Terminators in any army. They can, however, be chosen normally as Heavy Support choices.

If you have a squad of any kind of infantry (except Jump Infantry), they can start the game in the Land Raider, even though it's not taken as a Dedicated Transport for them.

Is it ONE dedicated transport for termies.

Or is it ONE for each Termie type?

According to the C:SM you can take one landraider as a dedicated transport for one unit of terminators and one landraider as a dedicated transport for one unit of assault terminators. The codex does make a distinction between the two units, so you can have a total of 2 dedicated land raiders: one for each type of terminator-regular and assault. Of course, you can just play blood angels and have dedicated land raiders for ALL of your units. Land raiders that fall out of the sky via deep strike causing your opponent to soil his/her pants

*Edit*

Just double checked myself. You can actually have one dedicated Transport per type of Terminator.

WOW. Quick replys, thanks

In fact my question was not weather I can take a Landraider for normal terminators or Assault terminators it was weather it can be used to transport other types of infantry like vets in normal power armor or even a tac squad. I think Rurouni Benshin answered the question by saying I would just buy a vet or tac squad (no jump packs) and a landraider then just start the game with the vets or tacs in the landraider. Does this sound right?

Well, that's why I mentioned blood angels too: they can take land raiders as dedicated transports for any unit

DSing Landraiders isn't something your opponent would be pissing their pants in fear over... they will be pissing themselves with laughter; a 3 point grot fleeing off the table can destroy a 240+ AV14 Landraider if the scatter dice cock up. That grot has reclaimed 800% of its points value.

Yeah, I've actually had that happen...only it was on a unit of dark angels tacticals, not a grot. I promptly conceded the game. But you're right, most pants aren't soiled over deep striking landraiders...it's fairly gimmicky, but occasionally has its uses. Like when the rest of the army deep strikes as well and you REALLY don't want just a land raider on the table by itself against your opponents full army

In city fights, Jungle warefare or any other high terrain environment, or against a massive horde player, DSing is bane not a boon. I had that happen when proxying a DE army and lost my super-scary Archon and Incubi Doom Squad... I mean someone's Chimera and Officer of the Fleet with all their Stormtroopers and Ratlings....

I hear you with the BloodAngels timetowaste85 but my army is a codex army. What’s with the deep striking land raiders. I thought you were kidding but after 10 seconds of Google research it seems as if its actually aloud??? lol.

I take a storm raven with my death company so I can include Lemartes. 5 Death company with power weapons and the super chaplain is more than enough to cut through even the toughest (2-3 at a time) MEQ units at a time. If Lemartes could be played without his jump pack I'd jump up and down like a schoolgirl who just discovered tampons and throw the unit in a landraider. Alas, I can't.

@ Good 'ol Vim - Don't worry too much about the dedicated transports unless you're planning on running 5 Landraiders, in which case you're probably CRAZY!? Or playing Apoc, which is Crazy, but with an actual rule set to follow.

No... yes... maybe...

If you buy it as a dedicated transport, only the unit you bought it for may START the game embarked in it.
If you want to put another unit in it, then that unit must start outside of the Land raider & embark into it on turn 1.

If you buy the LR as a Heavy Support Choice, however, you could start the game with them in it.

Two ways to make your vet squad or any non-termie squad) ride in a landraider.

1. Buy a heavy support land raider, stick them in it.
2. Buy a dedicated transport landraider for a termie squad, have the vets deploy next to it, have them get in and drive off on turn one.
