Hello fellow dakkaites!
i currently run an epidermus list and a fate crusher list for my daemons. but recently my epidermus list has started falling behind.
im abit tired of running these lists to be honest and am wondering the following

1. is there a competative mixed god list
2. do you have any examples that youve seen/played.

what have you found successful?
if anyone has a list i could look through that would be handy.. im looking at the 2k mark
i dont mind buying a whole new set of models so thats not a problem.
it can be abit cheesey i just dont want a fatecrusher type list..

Daemons really are not that competative, but spamming the best stuff tends to work well.

4 Heralds of Tzeentch on Chariots(Master of Sorcerery, Bolt, Breath)
3 Units of 6 Fiends
Multiple small units of Plague Bearers
A couple of largish units of Khorne Dogs(in larger games only)
3 Daemon Princes of either Nurgle of Tzeentch

Everyone agree or does anyone have anything else to bring to the table?

I don't believe in Cheesy, although I do think that spamming lists are less fun to play with (or against). I disagree that Daemons aren't competitive. This is supported by the amount of tournamentresults that came by the last year or so with Daemons finishing in the top 10.

They are tricky to play and even more succeptible to chance than other competative lists, but not to the extent that a competent General cannot overcome.

I use Fateweaver in my lists. He's a bit like practiceweels on a bike. It makes for a more forgiving army to play. However, he's not necesary by a long shot.

As Tzeentchling9 has suggested, using good units isn't bad :-) The codex doesnt have a lot of bad choices however (maybe only Ku'gath, HeraldoN, BeastsoN, Nurglings and Furies). The trick is to make sure you mix and match to eliminate weakness and maximise potential. Monogod lists are possible, but IMO inherently weaker. I mostly prefer a broad selection of different units to play with (as opposed to spamming the same choice x times). This makes for flexibility and it makes it harder for your opponent to decifer what your strategy is.

My most recent 1700point list is the following:

Fateweaver
Herald of Tzeentch, MoS, Bolt, Chariot
Blue Scribes
3 Flamers
6 Fiends, UM
4 Crushers, FoK, Instr, ChI
9 Horrors, Bolt, Changeling
5 Plaguebearers
5 Plaguebearers
Daemon Prince, MoT, Bolt, Gaze
Daemon Prince, MoT, Bolt, Gaze

Check out lists by Norbu the Destroyer for more inspiration. There are also multiple battlereports from him which are very insightfull.

When building a Daemon list I try to focus on the following:
- multiple ways to engage tanks
- multiple fast units to ensure tactival flexibility
- targetoverload
- beware of overinvesting (a unit of 8 Crushers is cool, but how does it compare to 4 Crushers AND 5 Fiends - a DP of 220 points is nasty, but what does it achieve a 160 point DP does not... etc)

Good luck with your Daemons mate!

I've also just started a Daemon army, and i'm loving it!

This is just my opinion (and to an extent it does depend who i'm playing against), but Flamers in abundance is a great way to go.

Some observations i've made so far about them:

-Seekers of Slannesh are only 3 points more than Daemonettes. In my view this is the only Fast attack choice you really want to be using. This also negates the need for Daemonettes in your troops choices (unless you love Slannesh!)

-Tzeenchian Daemons (flamers + horrors) are masters of disruption. Dropping these in your first wave (if you get lucky) can cause massive confusion in the enemy ranks

-Plaguebearers are 100% your best objective holding unit. Especially if Fateweaver is lurking nearby....

-Units I wouldn't bother with; Furies, Beasts of Nurgle; soul grinder. The soul grinder one might be a bit controversial, but i'd rather have a tooled-up Daemon prince, which needs 4 lascannon shots to kill rather than 1 lucky penetration.

One last point - the Masque of Slannesh + Flamers of Tzeentch = LOL.

I've been running one soul grinder, and look at additing two more at some point. I've gotten nothing but results from them.

Masque and flamers are great fun. I ran a unit of 6 against a truck spam list and they shut down the trucks.

i wrote a 2k point list (1995 actually)

but it goes as follows.. and complain all you want but i just utterly tabled a dark angels player haha

Skarbrand

5 fiends
4 fiends
4 fiends

10 horrors
changling
bolt

5 plague bearers
5 plaguebearers

10 seekers
10 seekers

soul grinder
tongue

daemon prince
wings
might
mark of slanesh
armour
breath of chaos
aura of aqua

daemon prince
wings
might
mark of slanesh
armour
breath of chaos
aura of aqua

i was thinking of dropping one prince for another unit of seekers and maybe more fiends for those units?

anyway this list just tabled my friend which i played today..
rerolling all hit in combat attacking first.. denying there charge bonus... rending goodness
its just horrible to watch
well good for me but horrible for him

How did you get re-rolls to hit in close combat?

Every unit friend and foe within 24" of skarbrand gets to reroll hits in combat Thus concluding why he is there

I've been playing a mixed god list in tournaments for a while now, and it does very well for me.

If you look under my name in the batrep's section you will see lots of reports for them.

My current incarnation is the follow
HQ
3 heralds of tzeentch, chariot, bolt, master, we are legion
The Masque
Elite
6 Fiends, unholy might
6 Fiends, unholy might
3 flamers
Troops
5 Horrors, bolt
5 Horrors, bolt
5 Horrors, bolt
5 Horrors, bolt
then either bloodletters or plague bearers 9-10 strong, your choice
Heavy Support
3 Grinders w/ phlegm, tongue

It's extremely versatile and has counters for most of the competative lists out there today.
