Hey i decided to base my dark elves off the city of karond kar i was wondering what kind of heraldry they use and what to put on there shields. What kind of image to make them all seem karond karish

i was thinking of going with a yellow purple and black color scheme thoughts? ill have fluff up later.

Only know that the city is mentioned several times in the Malus novels and then this short paragraph on warhammeronline:

Karond Kar, the Tower of Despair

Karond Kar is the great Dark Elf depot of slavery. It is here that thousands of slaves are brought by slave ships; Men, High Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, and more brought here to serve the Witch King. From the docks the slaves are driven in chains amidst the jeering crowds. As the slave masters beat them forward many stumble on the steep rock and are trampled to death by the chained feet of those who follow. At this sight the crowds laugh and cry with pleasure, as this sorry spectacle is considered great entertainment. The wailing spirits of dead slaves are said to haunt the whole city. Many of the slaves are sacrificed upon the altars of Khaine, while others are sent north and south to labor in the mines, quarries, and shipyards that support the Witch King's war machines. The City is located in sea of chill on a small island with Karond Kar as it's single city so for a slave there is no way out.

The Beastmasters from Karond Kar and there mighty hydras and manticores are from this city. When a Druchii child shows aptitude for taming beasts he is sent to the Tower of Despair to study under the masters that dwell there.

Thought it would be on Battle march but they only have Clar Karond which isnt the same place :(

As its a place of beasts! I don't know whether they come with the warrior boxes but GW have Iron talon shield bits on their site. My shields are somewhere..... but i would have to find them to check :p Aswell as my dark elf book being at my brothers house >.<

On battle march it just seemed everyone used black shiney armour. Because its shiney i dont know if it is just pure black :(
but it did seem like it was really really dark purple or blue.

Then all cloth was pure black or Blue, with Gold or red trim on cloth bits and armour bits.

So its probably a safe bet if you make your Armour black and then just pick something for trim/cloth. Purple cloth with yellow trim would be pretty cool.

And for your army

you're going to need hydras, harpies, manticores, dragons! And corsairs

hmmm haha i didnt know they included lots of beasts i dont know if i will keep the them then.. what other cities rely on heavily warriors and magic? maybe the northern one sorry cant remember name.

After exterminating the native barbarian tribes of Naggaroth they constructed six heavily fortified cities:

* Naggarond: the Tower of Cold, Dark Elf capital and seat of the Witch King
* Ghrond: the North Tower where the sorceresses study the Realm of Chaos
* Karond Kar: the Tower of Despair, largest slave port of the Dark Elves
* Hag Graef: the Dark Crag which is never touched by the sun's rays
* Har Ganeth: the City of Executioners and religious capital of Cult of Khaine
* Clar Karond: the Tower of Doom and largest Dark Elf shipyard

You probably want Ghrond if you want lots of sorceress's and its the north tower!

As fun as canon armies are, I prefer to design my paint scheme as I see fit, and then write fluff to justify it i.e. my desert lizardmen army.

If you like yellow, purple, and black then go nuts. Use whatever heraldry YOU think looks cool, and just adjust your fluff to justify it.

sweet im doing Ghrond! thanks and yeah i decided on skull heraldry via fluff thanks!

and yellow and black is the color scheme still dont know why yet.

You will certainly be different from the hordes of Liche Purple DE out there! A worthwhile goal in and of itsellf....
