Why is it a double feature? Because I had 2 pick up games that were completely one sided…so…I was hesitant to post anything about them, but I took the pictures and I have the random time throughout the day to muse over them.

So some background. I am playing in a new gaming group/testing the waters there. I had some pick up games there recently and they are less than ideal opponents with respect to competitive levels. I am organizing something better but for the moment these will not be too interesting of a 1/2 battle report on each.

That aside, on to the meat of it:

Game 1: 1500 Points Vs Necron Newbie that wanted his ass kicked (aka I just want to see what the stuff I have can do).

So…my list is the normal 1500. Captain on bike with blade and shield(he had hellfire rounds cause my 1500 is really 1490), 3 biker squads with 2:1 meltas to flamers and all hvy bolter attack bikes, 3 squads of Attack Bikes with 2:1 of Multi-Meltas to Hvy bolters.

His list was…not too sure now.

Nightbringer.
Destroyer Lord with full gear.
Footlord w/ Veil (I know third HQ)
3 Squads of 10-12 Necron Warrirs.
3 Destroyers
2 Wraiths
so…somewhere under 1500.

Something to note, because the opponent’s model kept tipping over… Nightbringer has reduced himself to the poor Scarabs he was stepping on on his base.

We roll Annihilation and … Dawn of War.
Either I win and choose to go second or my opponent wins and chooses to go first.
Or it’s the other way around…I have no clue and am drawing a blank…

Necron Deployment
He sets up his troops on the board, one on the tall tall building (cause I can’t get up it) and one in the central building.
Bikers Deployment
I set nothing up and hold nothing in reserves.

I do not roll for seize and the game starts.
It is important to note, these pictures confuse even me…as this was a bit ago.

I did note that there were 3 HQ’s, and I offered to run without a Squad of Multi-Melta bikers…which show in absence of a second squad in the turn 1 pictures. My opponent suggests that he add in another 10 man squad of warriors, but I think he mistook ‘that’ 10 man squad as his forth unit, when it was really just his third….ugh… I have no idea by now, all I know is when the points were totaled I was ahead by 150+ IIRC.

Necron Turn 1

Took picture at the end of my turn :-(
Nightbringer floats in centrally and runs a bit.
Destroyers with Lord inch onto the board.
The Wraiths turbo to seek shelter behind the building to my left flank.
Shooting is largely ineffective as there is nothing to shoot.

Biker Turn 1

Well, there were no blast weapons so I could bunch up as much as I wanted
My bikers all turbo on. I put more forces on the more isolated necron warriors on top of the building.
Captain is on the left flank, while the Attack Bikes were hiding behind the central building.

Woot, night fight is over without a single shot fired.

Turn 1.5

So in this picture you see the ‘extra’ necron warriors that just walked on.
And you see my ‘extra’ Multi-Melta Bikers put back in.

Necron Turn 2

The necrons on the building don’t do anything while the rest of his forces concentrated on the left biker squad with the captain in it.
2 big volleys of Warriors and Destroyers kill 2 joes and the Attack bike.
Nightbringer moves towards the higher concentration of bikers.
The Wraiths move close to the bikers.

Biker Turn 2

Big movments.
Captain peels away, shoots, and charges the Wraiths killing one with the Relic blade, the Wraith holds/causes no damage.
The Mauled flamer bikers move up flametasticly kill only 1 or 2 and the bikers charge into the fray. But…they hit like wet paper towel and end up losing one in combat……..oh snap, this is good, Combat Tactics is used, beating Necron initiative and run 14ish inches away. More importantly, away from Nightbringer charge range. (Mean I was gonna sacrifice them anyway, but this was great).
The multi-melta biker squads both shift left and open up on the Destroyers…after the dust settles the Lord is wounded and the destroyers are all down.
Then the remaining 2 bikers squads and hvy bolters pour on the fire power to take out all of the Necrons on top of the building. They could not WBB because they were not within 6” of another necron model.
Note: it took my 720 points to JUST down 180 points of Warriors.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Necron Turn 3

We’ll be back, some get back up after being flamed and winning combat vs. Bikers.
We decided that the Lord was as close to a destroyer as any and so 2 Destroyer came back to unlife.
Wraith and Captain slap each other around but no lasting damage.
Nightbringer moves closer to the blob of bikers that killed the whole squad of Necrons and shoots, only to miss.
Shooting on the multi-melta bikers is ineffective.
The Destroyers shoot and charge the left multi-melta bikers.

Biker Turn 3

The fleeing bikers that used Combat Tactics find themselves within 6” of the Destroyers that charged near them and diced to run another 12” away.
Hindsight: they should have gone through the terrain and take dangerous tests.
Captain finally cleaves the Wraith in two and consolidates1-2” away.
The unengaged Multi-melta attack bikes move to the left flank and charge the destroyers. I don’t do any damage and take one wound on the already engaged Attack Bike squadron, I make my leadership.
The Hvy Bolter Attack Bikes move further to the right flank keeping close enough to shoot the center Necron Warrior Squad, but well enough away from Nightbringer.
The rest of the melta Biker turbo boost back and toward the left flank.

Necron Turn 4

Nightbringer lets out a huge: “CHICKENS!” and moves+runs 12” back to the left flank where the action is taking place.
The center warrior squad is making its way to the left building.
Warriors in said building open up on the captain and take 1-2 wounds off of him.
The Attack bikes manage to kill both destroyers and without being in 6” of another they are truly down. They each consolidate 1-2”.

Biker Turn 4

Fleeing bikers regroup and move back toward the warriors in the building and shoot ineffectively at them.
The MM Attack Bikes move backwards while the captain joined the wounded squad.
They all open up on Nightbringer. All of the meltas miss, while the Inv was passed vs. the hellfire round.
The melta bikers in the center shift right again and along with the hvy bolter attack bikes poundon the center Necrons some more.

Necron Turn 5

Some Warriors get back up.
Nightbringer moves up and shoots, hits, and rolls a 1 to wound … :-/
The remaining shooting is targeting the Hvy bolter attack bikes and cause a wound.

Biker Turn 5

I continue to move the MMAB’s away from Nightbringer.
Mauled flamers stay put.
The bikers on the right flank move in to seal the deal.

Game is called by opponent.

As for the Unit Rundown, there’s not much to say everything worked and they were out of Bolter Ammo.

So it wasn’t really a great game for my opponent, but the objective was attained .
Not too happy with the whole points imbalance and such.
I guess the only thing of note is to worry about distances and such.
With Nightbringer, I knew he ignored all terrain, so he could very well have moved through the building, so I still kept my distance no matter where.
Dawn of War helped me get close.
I got the first alpha strike, I got to outpace a pretty immobile force that was spread a bit thin. Granted it wasn’t a list that worked too well together.
What I would suggest would be to stay closer together, that way he can focus fire more, that flamer squad was pretty mauled and had a decent at taking them out.

I guess the highlight was several people that walked by and where quite puzzled why I was avoided the Single Scarab Swarm like the plague.

Observation: My meltas are not hitting recently very weird…and it’s not a game until I have some biker squad running away from a failed morale or combat tactics, quite refreshing and scary from a spoiled Chaos player with fearless out the ears.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
