Legion of Everblight versus Trollbloods
pThagrosh versus pMadrak

Legion of Everblight
pThagrosh
- Shredder
- Shredder
- Scythean
- Carnivean
Blighted swordsmen (full)
Warmongers (full)

This is a fairly small army with a lot of heavy hitters, and a bit less crowd control. Under the influence of draconic blessing the swordsmen with PS 13 and 3d6 (or 4 on charge) they can take out even heavy infantry. The pair of heavy beasts is ImHO a very strong one. They tick in at 20 points together, but they can hold their own and give as good as they get. The Warmobngers I think fit the list as they too are relatively hard to kill and have some troopclearing abilities in berserk. Shredders will hunt solo's and will do some mild damage on lights when rabid.

Trollbloods
pMadrak
- Axer
- Impaler
- Impaler
- Pyre troll
Champions (full)
Stonebearers (full)
Hero
Fellcaller

This army is a brick army. they bunchup around Madrak (who will have surefoot going) and the stonebearers will use their vault for extra arm. Champs are first and will have Arm 20 with 8 wound most of the game. When the time comes the champs will charge in, preferably under madraks feat. The impalers will take oppurtunity shots. their spears are good at taking some boxes from heavys and a pair can take a light down quite a few boxes. The axer is a beatstick. He can finish the job started by the impalers. The pyretroll is there for the spray and the fiery threat of his animus. Hero and fellcaller are strong characters in their own right and help buff troops.

Fighting will take place in a small town. The buildings are set up on the edges. In the middle there is a gallow. There is also some rubble and some fences down the middle. (Have to take pictures sometimes...) Legion wins the Toss and sets up first. Thagrosh goes in the center and is surrounded by his warmonger Bodyguard. The carniveans go to the right followed by the swordsmen. The shredders go to the left as a pair.
Madrak Takes on the brick formation with champs up front (semi circle). madrak is just behind the point. The stonebearers are behind madrak. 1 impaler goes on each side. pyre goes right and axer left. The fellcaller and hero stand next to Madrak.

First turn Legion
everything moves up. The warmongers run towards the gallows in a spread Formation. the shredders almost reach the gallow with a run. They cast animus on themselves The carnivean runs up to stand just behind an outhouse (it is cool terrain )The scythean runs up to stand just behind a small barn a bit right from the carnivean. The swordsmen run forward. Last thagrosh moves up. he casts fog of war and draconic blessing on the Warmongers. Then he cast the Shredders animus on himself to bring his def up even higher.

First turn Trollbloods The brick moves up. Madrak casts surefoot and drops 2 fury in the volt. The stonescribes use their power. He then gives turn to me. I give him a friendly reminder about the way fury works and he riles a couple beasts (He forgets to do this often, but I do not want to win beacause of it... )

Second turn Legion
I see a small opening for taking out a key support sol (the fellcaller) and doing some damage to some other parts of his army. I could lose a beast in the proccess, but then his brick would at least open up. I decide to go for it after upkeeping fog of war and draconic blessing. The carnivean moves up to the edge of Thagrosh's control and sprays. he aims at the stonescribe behind the fellcaller and the left impaler. this gets me 2 champs, the impaler and the fellcaller plus a scribe. I hit both champs but fail to do significatn damage (arm 20 with ps 14 is hard..) I then boost hit on the fellcaller and boost damage. Fellcaller goes to 2 boxes. I just failed the kill... ah well.. The impaler gets the same treatment for a little bit of damage (6 or so) without taking out a column. I miss the Stonescribe. The swordsmen move up to just past the shed on the right. they are pretty spread out so if the first line is charged then the back line can still charge. The Warmongers move up and spread out a bit. The scythean takes up positions behind the OutHouse. Ready for a countercharge. The shredders take up position in some ruble next to the gallow and use their animus. Thagrosh spends 5 fury on giving all the warmongers the shredder animus. (I needed to burn fury)

Second turn Trollbloods.
Surefoot gets upkept. He starts by having the left impaler cast the animus on the right one. He then moves the Impaler up to just Within 8 inch range of the carnivean. He boosts and hits (no crit). He does 2 damage because he could not boost damage (already 3 fury used). The Champs move up and form their semi-circle in front of the impaler. Madrak then gets a turn. He casts the Axer animus on the axer and then moves to stand in the brick He trows his axe at the carnivean and misses his boosted roll. The last fury goes into the vault (now holding 2). The Second impaler now moves to stand with the brick again. It then throws it's spear at 1 of the shredders. Even with a boost to hit it misses the little blighter (def 16 ftw ) The axer charges the carnivean and takes out 1 branche. Then the fellcaller charges in and with it's 2 attacks takes out The rest of the boxes plus mind and spirit. Carnivean stands with 5 boxes left... Pyretroll takes his position in the brick.

Third turn Legion
Lot's to do and little time to do it in. I drop both upkeeps. I leach 6 fury and gain the last from the athanc. I then start with driving a shredder rabid and walking it into the axer. First attack does nothing. Second attack does a few boxes. Time for the second shredder to do the same as it's buddy. The axer still stands, but his boxes are halfway gone (mind was gone other branches survived). The Carnivean has to finish of then. I move thagrosh up a bit and cast draconic blessing on the swordsmen. I then heal the carni for 2 fury getting it back to battleconditions. I use the carniveans animus on the carnivean and keep the last 2 focus for myself. The carnivean moves a bit to get within reach of the axer and fellcaller and then hits it's first attack (claw) at the fellcaller, boosting hit. After the hit damage is rolled (only 2 or 3 boxes left so no need to boost) and the troll dies, failing his tough. I then use the second attack (jaw) to take on the Axer. I boost to hit and boost damage and the axer is down for the count.
Next the swordsmen charge the champ brick. 5 can reach, the rest set's up a little over 3 inch behind them as second wave. The first 2 attacks both hit but fail to do damage, even with 4d6+13. Then 2 hits take out a troll each. (rolled 17 and 16 on 4d6). they both fail though. The last champ get's scoffed from the final attack, but is not killed. The scythean moves back to the barn on the right, so he can countercharge after the inevitable clearing of the swordsmen. The warmongers move up a bit to set up good countercharge positions. I make a misstake here and the leader of the warmongers is just out of cmd-range of 1 warmonger. ah well...

Third turn Trollbloods
Surefoor is upkept again. The stonebearers move back a bit and use the vault (that is the last fury on them.) Madrak then moves back a bit and casts a spell for +2 to MAT in it's control. he then moves back a bit and keeps 2 fury to himself. The impaler on the left moves a bit forward and throws a spear over the Shredder hitting the Warmonger behind them. He boosted and got a crit, slamming me back into another warmonger. Damage was not enough to kill either. Then the Hero charges the carnivean and uses thresher. He kills of the carnivean and leaves a few boxes on the shredders (both lost 1 aspect). (There is the to be returned beast )The champs move around a bit so they all get maximum attacks without risking freestrikes. They kill all the swordsmen in contact. The pyre then moves up and belches his flames over 3 warriors. The boosted attackrolls hit 2. The Impaler then moves up a bit and kills a 3rd with a boosted attackroll, getting a crit and slamming it back into the scythean. Then he gives the turn over to me.

Fourth turn Legion
I Reave al fury and gain 1 from the athanc. I Upkeep draconic might. The shredders go to town on the Hero, destroying it after rabid and 4 attacks. 1 heals a bit. The last 2 swordsmen charge the pyretroll. Both hit and the second attack boxes it. The Scythean then uses it's animus and charges the champs. It's remaining Fury is used to boost hit on the middle champ. He kills it with the charge attack. Second attack focusses Warmongers recieve a charge order and engage a champ and the Impaler on the left with 2 (2 where knocked down and move up, 1 moved into coherency. Then Thagrosh activates and moves to the gallow. He uses it's feat and summons the carnivean back. He then casts draconic might on the Warmongers and orders a charge. He uses the carniveans animus on the carnivean. The Warmongers charge forward (the 2 that can, the rest moves normally) 1 contacts a champ on the left and the impaler (yeah reach) the other turns so it can only see the impaler. (the first warmonger has 3 target, 2 trollbloods and the second warmonger. I bank on not destroying the impaler with the first, but with the second attack. The first warmonger hits the champ and destroys it (again no tough). Second attack maims the impaler, but fails to kill. The second Warmonger misses it's attack. (damn )

Fourth turn Trollbloods
He want to concede from the start, but I convince him he still has some possibilities left. (Madrak on feat with full fury can take out quite a few things of mine, but kill thagrosh is doubtfull.) He charges madrak into the Warmonger and feats. He kils 3 warmongers and the 2 shredders, but this burns all his fury as he missed a couple times. I have a carnivean, almost fresh scythean and a couple warmongers ready to strikew at his lock and he folds again. (no transfer targets and Thagrosh was looking mean already

I Thought it was a nice battle. I have lot's of heavy hitters and if I please the dicegods they will clear almost everything in a turn. I think that Thagrosh still has some more tricks up it's sleeve and I played him a bit conservatively. Reason for that is that I do not want to overextend myself with a new warlock. I also forgot about the debuff aura. Things I want to try next game is using mutagenesis correct and maybe do a bit more then just passing draconic blessing and fog of war arround. What I did appreciate though is his ability to keep fury on himself. A lot of casters I want to use all the fury that is available and then have nothing left to use for transfers. Thagrosh can easily keep 2 fury on himself. Next time I do need a bit more furymanagent though, so I might drop a shredder and add a forsaken or 2 shepperds...

Nice battle report, though I am a bit confused with what happened in Legion turn 4 with the Warmongers. Did they get two charge orders, or was that just a typo?

On a side note, I dusted off my Legion yesterday and got a victory with pThagrosh too. Ran him with two Carniveans, Niphilim Soldier, full Warmongers, Warchief, Shepard and a Swamp Gobber crew (had one point left over and no second Shepard, lol.) I find the Warchief makes the Warmongers an even more dangerous unit and the Shepard helps with fury management and healing. And a Niphilim Soldier with Draconic Blessing can be very dangerous (he took out Gorten to win the game for me!)

Yeah, I was writing it down in the wrong order and left a bit there, sorry...

I am also pretty new to Legion. This was my first time playing Thagrosh. I still have a lot to learn about him, as I only scratched the tip of the iceberg at the moment. For beast and support units I am pretty stuck with these 2 right now. I looking at their outputpotential is any indication then I think Swordmen beat Keratis. However, for troop-decimation I think the berserk attacks from the warmongers win...

The warmongers also are fluffy with Thagrosh IMHO, as he was a warmonger when he found the athanc (or at least that is all I could gather right now, as I do not have primal...
