How come whenever you want to find something half important on google, it isn't there? I searched for something rather simple today and got idiotic results: "Three inch Circle Template"

How hard is that? seriously? I'm getting sick of google lately. It's plagued with fething moronic advertisments that only apply to people with an IQ of less than 90, among other things. I dislike"sponsored results". I've never once in my life pressed "I'm feeling lucky".

Even if I'm looking for something related to 40k, it comes up with crappy results. I'll search for "Chaos Rhino conversion" and it gives me some picture of a dude in an ugly hat and a picture of an expensive purse (please don't be made out of rhino skin...)..

Okay, I guess that's my rant.

Here's some topics that come up on sponsored results:
Twitter
Credit report
Gardening tips
PsP firmware 3.2
Ipod touch 32 GB
Hunting knives
Play free games
News
Youtube
facebook girls
Megan fox
transformers 3
Spider man 4
Watch free movies
Back to school sale at macys
Office supplies on sale
Buy a harley Davidson today
credit card veryfication
New droid phones

.....None of these apply to anyone...Who in their right mind would click such stupid things? Maybe people in their 80's who believe everything they see on the internet is official. That's about it. How do they make money off these stupid things? What company would pay for advertisment in the first place? It doesn't work! Everyone wants a name brand, not your crappy little company.

The only thing I am not a fan of is the way that google handles image search nowadays. But that's a minor complaint at best. : )

try different methods...

it has become a lot more user friendly, but I remember in google's infant days, and search engines before, more specifically (fething yahoo), searching the right/effective way went something like this:

"what are the birth rate statistics in south africa?"

If you typed that in, sans quotations, google would have omitted "are", "the", and "in" and garbled up your search request. So a better way would have been

"birth rate + south africa"

Then, when google got a bit smarter, you could search the exact phrase by putting your query in quotations.

now, you can ask google a question outright and good good to mediocre results...

I still search the old way, and it's usually to my benefit.

I get your point, though...

the most recent example I can think of was when I was looking up model sheets, which a very common term in both animation and game design, and it is a term that is close to 60 years old, in other words, common. I type it in to google images, and I got bunch of gak I didn't need....

on the other hand, google's new image search "type" function is great, you can seperate line art, photos, paintings, etc...and it's pretty spot on.

Yahoo still works the way it has for the past 10 years, and it still sucks

I don't even know why google wastes it's time on anything past the first 10 pages. A million results? 999,900 of them are worthless!

Thats weird, because I use google for just about everything, and almost never have a "wtf I cant find it" that does happen, but very rarely. Must be your search foo or something

Yeah, it's wierd, I know. But really, this entire day has been very disappointing! It could be that what I'm looking for doesn't exist, but I doubt it isn't discussed somewhere...

I've found that if you need something secret that isn't on google, chances are that someone on 4chan has what you're looking for

I hear ya OP.

Are you telling me you don't want a green card to live and work in the USA?

That's the one that gets me. That and the quiz "Who is the President of the USA?" and the choices are Obama, George W Bush and Hilary Clinton. What no Kissinger? Isn't he the puppet master?

I will never ever ever want to play Travian, so feth off already! So I guess on this side of the planet the annoying ads are a little different.

The ads are what really gets me. I mean really? WHO IS PAYING FOR THIS STUFF?

I'm sure they get a maximum of about 3 clicks each day

Oh, here's some more:
Play evony online
Join the battle for the world: AQ worlds!
Play wow for free!
Scrabble online
Pokemon heart gold
Meet hot young singles in your area!

gawd...It's insulting really.

This is one that always gets me. That ad pops up and the picture is of some hot 20 year old girl in a bra with the caption "I'm hot and alone in MOBARA". There are no white chicks in Mobara. Hell, I think there are only 5 white broads on the whole peninsula, with maybe, maybe one of them being luke warm to warm, but not hot. That or they have a map with all these chicks and one of them isn't Japanese. Sorry, if they're were three black girls in Chiba city who like wearing thongs shaking their badonkadonks together, I would've heard about it.

it's not really an issue with not finding what I need, it's an issue with having mediocre results...every AWESOME web page I have ever found was through a person, or DIGG, etc, never through a search function

I have pretty good luck. You really have to learn search physics to make the most out of it. For example, if you want to find song lyrics don't type "song name lyrics" instead type out as many of the lyrics as you know, especially any uncommon words. You're much more likely to get taken straight to a page with the lyrics instead of finding a lyric page that makes you search again on it. Next time you have trouble with it shoot me a PM and maybe I can suggest something.
