Hey all, decided i would finally start a painting/modelling blog up, seems i get sidetracked easily lately though. Anyway, to start off, i've got a
WIP Baneblade with modifications done to it. All the models im going to be posting on this thread for the next couple weeks at least were gifted to me from my brother. He is stationed in Hawaii now, member of the army and I really appreciate his contribution to my hobby and can't wait for him to get back with his newly purchased necrons... cant wait to kill da terminator.
Anyway, on to the pics. Please remember all the baneblade pics are still very
WIP.
Here is a front quartered pic of the gun i've named B.A. The vehicles in the army are kinda paying a bit of homage to the A-team via the red stripe akin to the ones on the A-team's personal van. My grandfather was a huge fan of the show *as such so am i*, and this is kinda a tip of the hat to him. Also the actual cannon was modified from what it was when i recieved the tank. Upon receipt of the army it was a hellhammer variant and I didnt really like the actual gun, so i took a Shadowsword volcano cannon barrel, stuck it into the slot of the hellhammer to add some bulk near the turret, took another cannon used for the stormlord chasis *the name escapes me at the moment* and placed the muzzlebreak on the rear of the turret as a type of exhaust vent for gases to release when the weapon is fired.
Side shot.
Here is a rear shot showing one of my mods to the basic design. This adds 2 "sandspades", to the rear to stabilize the front/back movement of the vehicle while firing the main cannon. This is used in real life artillery for the most part to stop the guns from rocking too far back and throwing off their sights. I though it would be a cool addition here so went with it.
This pic shows the beginnings of my camo netting. This was a scary step for me as i had never done camo netting prior to this. The actual netting is just surgical gauze glued in place with superglue then had a mix of elmer's school glue and water brushed over it to harden it.
A lil more practice at some free hand. The army name and symbol were inspired by my brother, whom loves the punisher gatling cannon, and prior to giving me the army requested that i paint "punisher" skulls on his
LR's with punisher cannons. I liked the idea and went with it. So the regiment's badge is the "punisher" skull from marvel comics.....
There are a few more pictures in my gallery of the tank
atm, some of my favorite things about the tank so far are the
OSL, the camo netting, and the sand spades. The
OSL is by far my best attempt at it yet and i still have a lot of work to do to this beast. The front 2 side sponsons are actually regular sponsons from a Leman Russ, but i liked the way they looked being smaller up front and the small fixtures on top are targeters to raise its ballistic skill by 1 via the shadowsword rules, at the expense of the extra las cannons. I'll probably pay same points for all upgrades even minus the 2 extra las cannons partly due to the fact i dont know how i want or can model them onto the smaller sponson. Any thoughts on the matter?
Anyway, feel free to comment and critique. And any suggestions/thoughts are more than welcome!
