Higher up the tables than you!!!!!!!!!!!!

So here is the list I am going to try out.

The army advances in a huge block, the slann choosing whatever lore is the most useful. So light magic for the extra initiative for my army most likely.

I am also fully equipped to survive miscasts and do nasty things to the enemy mage.

The engine will help protect vs gunlines and the charmeliean skinks are there to take out war machines or at least dictate his deployment a little.

LORDS:500
Slann mage-priest.
Ability to choose all from a lore.
Ability to roll an extra dice per spell.
Ability to make enemy wizard within 24 discard 6's.
Cupped hand of old ones, passes off a miscast to the enemy on a 2+
2+ ward vs shooting.
Battle standard with item of making the unit pursue an extra D6.

500

HEROS:405
Skink priest on engine of the gods.
Dispel scroll, item of making enemy re-roll on the miss-cast table.
405

CORE:560
16 saurus(with slann in), full command.
194
15 saurus, standard, musician.
183
15 saurus, standard, musician.
183

SPECIAL:530
Stegadon.
235
Stegadon.
235
5 camelion skinks.
60

TOTAL:1,995

Ghostfacekillah has it right, the DoW deployment allows you to deploy 1HQ unit and 2 troop units. A squad of boys is 1 unit, the transport is a second unit, for them to count as a single unit the transport would have to maintain coherency with a squad and be restricted to firing at the same target as the boys, that and it would be impossible for the transport to embark upon itself so the universe would implode if your boys squad attempted to embark. -TheAvengingKnee

Its a pretty good starter list.

Heres some advice though:

Drop a steg drop a block of saurus, upgrade reamaining steg to ancient, get temple guard, the slaan needs those unless he's etheral. Increase size of remaining saurus blocks, get champs, overkill may sound bad in the BRB but with a big enough unit, steadfast will compleetly negate it and you just suceeded in keeping that enemy hero from killing a whole bunch of saurus in an attempt to remove steadfast. The 2+ vs shooting item is useless if the slaan is in a unit as he already has a 2+ look out sir save and his ward save. You could potentially save points on the cupped hands if you take lore of life and go for throne of vines instead, note it can be risky. Camo skinks rock at huntin warmachines so nice going there. Not sure if it will fit in the points but a salamander is one of the killiest things lizzards have this eddition.

Lizardmen 101:

third mastery is kind of a waste of points. 2 is plenty.
Saurus ALWAYS need spears, and to be in units of 18(6x3).

Always take temple guard if you have a slann. 12, 16, or 20.

Running 3 stegadons is both cheesy and begs for cannons to destroy you in a matter of a few turns. Imagine if a cannon could wipe out a unit of temple guard in 1 shot. That's what a stegadon has going for it.

Hunting packs are too good to not take.

I don't think 18 is that great for spearsaurus, since even one casualtie reduces your number of attacks, not to mention its harder to be steadfast with just 3 ranks, 20 would be better (5x4) smaller frontage might seem bad but the fact you can loose a full rank before starting to loose killiness makes up for it, altho i personally never run spears in units less than 25, with fewer saurus you're better off with the parry save.

um, no. The point in running 18 is to maximize outgoing attacks, not survive incoming attacks. And at 25 spear saurus are too pricey to bother.
