GenCon 2010 is over and we've got some exciting stuff to talk about from our visit. The boys discuss their entire adventure during an extended Achievements in Gaming. What they played, what was the new hotness, and highlights.

If you're still with us after all that, be sure to catch Raef and Russ interviewing Matt Wilson. Matt brings us up to speed with his pet projects, i.e. movies and video games. And gives us the Privateer Press state of the union, er, pirates.

That should be enough, but why stop there? Total Fan Girl interviews the cast of The Guild, and we have LIVE FROM GENCON: It's Play by Mob.

All that and our other not-too-horrible segments including:

- Rapid Fire
- The Hollywood Minute
- The News
- Do You Ever Notice
- & More

Love the show. What do you guys think are the best 2 player games on the market?

You guys recently mentioned a new card game called Dungeon Crawl on your Gen Con follow up show. Sounded fun and like it would be a good solution to some of my business travel boredom. Unfortunately all my Google searches turn up nothing. Can you provide a link to the game or an e-store that has carries this product?

Thanks

Brian

Thanks for the feedback!

Essen: If the show ever makes enough revenue to send us all to Essen, I'm sure we'd go!! Right now it takes all the earnings we have now to attend what we attend and keep the lights on. But as we grow, who knows?

Dungeon Crawler: Here's their website: http://www.dungeoncrawler.com/ccg/index.php

2 Player games:

Depends what you are looking for.... if you want light and fun that plays great 2 player but also scales to more, try "Small World"

Great war style games that aren't too heavy: Memoir 44, Battlelore, or Battles of Westeros.

If you want a really meaty game that has the depth, components, and play time of a massive 6 player game but is designed for only 2, I'd check out Horus Heresy from FFG.

Oh and, of course, most miniature war games are two player and they rock. If you want to head that direction I'd recommend Warmachine or Malifaux due to their low model count to get started.

We've reviewed most of the above games, for more details check our episode page: http://www.thed6generation.com/index.php?post_category=D6G%20Podcast

Hmm, slow converstion week.

For those who attended was your favorite interview at GenCon and why?

And so Craig doesn't feel left out, what is your favorite part of fatherhood so far and why?
If it's any comfort, I haven't made a con of any kind in decades so I have no choice but to live vicariously through you guys.

Just finished the episode last evening.

Really enjoyed the Matt Wilson interview and the Q&A session at the end of the play by mob event (which I am still sad to have missed out on).

Matt's obvious pride in PP products shines through..and even though I'm not a Warmachine player, I think the world they've created is amazing. Looking forward to the novels. I was a bit bummed that, just like at Gen Con itself, nothing much was said about the future of the Monsterpocalypse the game. Sounds like they're slowing down the game to try and line things up with the movie more. Sad. But, if that helps the game finally catch on...then, ok.

The Q&A was a lot of fun to listen to.

This episode marks my 1 year anniversary as a listener of the D6G. It was the Gen Con show last year that I first listened to.

Russ and Raef, it was great to meet you guys outside the Lone Wolf booth on Saturday afternoon.

For a future episode, I'd love to hear an interview with whomever is now managing Dust Tactics at FFG. I know they just inherited the game from AEG prior to Gen Con, so I'm sure they are still finalizing things...but, I'd love to hear what's up for the future of my big Gen Con purchase!

It seems like they are losing sales or something. Like MonPoc isn't generating nearly enough revenue to dump resources into. The recent Voltron release coupled with the two-player starters is definitely their way of promoting to new players. Which is very good and I hope they continue to do that, but it would be nice to get a little scrap of info every now and then. They have the next several sets already planned out, yet they can't even give us the name of the next one? Either way, I'll still play MonPoc til either I fall apart or my minis do.

I actually went to GenCon and a friend of mine asks 2 questions in the interview after play by mob. I can't recall what I had going at the same time, but I was definitely sad to have not attended. I'll reserve a ticket early next year! Loved the show, I'm a fairly new follower - but you guys sold me on BoW and I'm a huge fan of Malifaux. Great Show.

Few thoughts to echo/add-on to what the guys said about Gen Con.

Our list of games that our local crew (I think we had 10 people there) were excited about:
Ascension
Revolution! Expansion
Heavy Gear
Malifaux
Road Kill Rally
City of Thieves
Castle Ravenloft
Gearmeggedon
Globalization (although the jury is still out on this one truthfully)

Things that were disappointing:
Privateer Press Booth - not sure what we expected but everyone was like Meh.
Castle Ravenloft not being out and general lack of preview copies available
Deals - If I'm paying full price for something it needs to be several months away before release, otherwise I feel it should be some % off. Maybe that's just me, but I know the financials of the LGS and it needs my business more than the game companies do.

Any know if there is an official version of the Warmachine video has been released? All I can find are copies people made from their phones or hand held video cameras.

I too was disappointed not to hear what is ahead for Monsterpocalypse other than the movie. Any hint of the next license or the next factions?

The closest thing to a hint at the next factions for series 7-9 is "giant women" and "Do you like dragons?"

Those two bits were gleened from MonCon in Tulsa a few months ago and they could mean a couple of things, but hopefully we'll see a giant people faction and a dragon faction.

Also, we can expect a News Helicopter as a civilian unit either next set or soon.

A dragon faction would be very nice!!

Where'd they say that?

I believe they record on Wednesdays, so a new episode may have been recorded this past Wed...but, Russ still has to work his techy editing magic before the show is ready for public consumption.

But, whenever it's ready...I'm ready to download it!

This response is waaay late, but I just found this site. We've switched over to an ECG (expandable) from a CCG (collectible). The above link redirects to /ecg/ but thought I'd mention it.

http://www.dungeoncrawler.com/ is the core link

We just got a smashing 5/5 review from FatherGeek which we're trying to share http://fathergeek.com/reviews/dungeon-crawler/

Also, if you enjoy fantasy web comics we have a semi weekly one here http://www.dungeoncrawler.com/adventures/

Cheers!
