Greetings!

In another act of shameless self promotion I would like to ask for some critique on my latest IG WIP's

For those who don't know the theme for this army, details are on this thread: IG Arctic warfare sergeant

So here we go, these are models for the same unit of ski infantry but i wanted opinions on the goggles and balaclava (ignoring the expression on the face, which makes him look terrified )

Both of those expressions look like the soldiers have just seen something truly nasty like a freshly mangled fellow soldier.

The green armour looks good as does the old camo tunic but wouldn't they have a more arctic camo, even the grey colours of urban camo.
They wouldn't look as contrasting but they would be more realistic.

In my opinion the goggles look good and the balaclava looks even better. Nice sculpting!

White areas shadows are too dark for me or white is too bright.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

Yeah, I would tone down the white a little. That or lighten up the shading. Sculpting is excellent, though. Personally I would have done the goggles orange, but it's up to you, and it looks nice either way.

Pics when they're done, please.

Well I did use a very direct flash to take these because I coudln't be arsed setting it all up properly for WIP's so they are over exposed and a bit shiny but i've never been great at doing white, which is admittedly a slight problem for an arctic based regiment, lol. I think I'll try a model with a blue highlight..if it's easy I'll redo the others if not I'll do basic troops in black and reserve decent highlights for HQ troops etc...we shall see!

Thanks for the comments, The reason I went with plain white and green is that these guys are based on alpine warfare rather than strictly arctic conditions.
In alpine conditions troops tend to wear normal forest camo with white overclothes and the same green webbing and equipment etc..I wanted to reflect this in these guys and suggest that they are a little short on supplies so they don't all have a full set of whites..

Your Guardsmen remind me of Metal Gear Solid.

Solid paintjobs, and I once saw on the Canadian army website soldiers with white pants but green camo army jackets. So it's not that unsual atleast for me that the fatigues are in diffrent colors.

I've sold so many armies. :(
