Hey there, first time posting.
I've got a decent SM army going, and want to know what you guys think where I should spend the next bit of money.
Here's the breakdown:
Chapter Master/Captain
2 Tactical Squads, each with 10 men each
5 Scouts with CC load, 5 Scouts with Sniper Rifles, and Telion.
1 Dreadnought with Multimelta and CC weapon
1 Land Speeder with both heavy bolter and Multimelta (interchangeable)
5 Terminators, all with storm bolters, Sergeant with power sword, the rest with power fists.
1 Devastator Squad, with all extra weapons used on extra marines.
So, all ye out there, where should I go next with my army?
I don't have a lot of money for more models, and I would rather re-enforce parts, like 5 more terminators, than put more foundation down by buying something like 5 assault marines. Tanks, transport, and a honor or command squad have all been considered.
Thanks so much for any help or advice!
-Damian

now, basically, you've got roughly 1,100 points.
without upgrades.
need a basdic, 2,000 point list?
captain, relic blade, storm shield, bike. [180]
Consider command squad
Consider a chaplain or Librarian.
Give each tactical squad a flamer, and a missile launcher, then split them up - The missile launcher is free, and versatile, and the flamer can mop up hordes.
Split them, so you can fire the missile launcher independant of the flamer.
[340 pt]
make the 2 scouts one squad, replace sergeant w/ TT, then give half snipers, hald CCW/Pistol. and split them up.
For the love of god man, AOBR dread? get a real dreadnought, they're like $50 USD. Maybe even a Venerable. Give it either a shoot Auto-cannon/lascannon/ML loadout, or a close combattey assault cannon/heavy flamer DCCW. [around 155 pt]
Er, confused. You mean, he can have a MM or A bolter?
Give him TML, And a multi melta, get three of them. consider the genocidist of tanks. [100- 300 pt]
give the terminators a CML, for 30 pt [230 pt]
Give the devastator squads all the same weapons. or, give them weapons with simmilar tasks.
FE: Lascannon and missile launcher, Plasma cannon and missile launcher [emphasis on the pure awesomeness of plasma cannons and the pure versatility of missile launchers.] [150 ish pt.]
You've a solid core of infantry. thats good. focus on...
4 tactical squads with rhinos.
a LR [a must, it simply too effective at meatshielding not to.]
Vindicators.
Land speeders
consider assault squads.

choose a points limit first.
2000 for a newbie is going to be an overwhelming game when you get time to play.

My next purchase would probably be Land Raider for the Terminators and maybe a Librarian in terminator Armor.
Either that or a predator or two, or a pair of razorbacks for the tactical squads.
I'd shoot for 1500 points, thats is where youll find most friendly pick up games, tournaments are either 1750, 1850 or 2000 points.

You need Rhinos, another Dreadnought, another Land Speeder, another Terminator unit and probably another Dev unit.

I agree with this. The other terminator unit should be an Assault Terminator unit. I don't know what the first poster has against the AoBR Dread, they are the only way to get a MM on one with out buying from Forgeworld. Put the dread in a pod though since the MM is a short range weapon, and use the other dread for long range support along with the two dev sqauds. Remember the 3 Ms are king in 5th edition 40k. Melta, Mech, and Mobility. If you expand your army with these three ideas in mind you should be alright.

I say try gettin a diferent dread than the the AOBR such as a venerable or an ironclad <------ abosolutely love the ironclad they are deadly as heck, and depending on the point range 2 vindicators (i run 3 just to be safe) and you chould give your chapter master a relic blade and maybe plunk him in a squad to soak up wounds.
That is just my two cents, but you should pick n choose what you think would work best for you from all the sugestions in this thread.

Start at 1500 points I suggest for your first few games, so you know where your sitting. I would suggest a land speeder storm for your CC scouts, They will not make it into combat without some form of transport. Automatically Appended Next Post: Also maybe consider a chaplin with the assualt squad give them some extra punch.
