So after playing another game as my guard (1750ish) with about 350 points of GK vs 1000 points SM, 1000 points CSM
and this being the most recent defeat in my long lossing streak, played 25 games and so far having only won 2 (in one my allies avatar went apesh!t and killed everything, the other was luck as my oppenent forgot to capture any objectives) and I have managed to draw 1 game as I had to leave early.

I have atm:
HQ: CCS. techpriest with 4 servitors, a priest with eviserator
Elites: Marbo, half a PBS, 1 storm trooper squad
troops: infantry platoon (4 squads and commissar, 2 HWS, 1 PCS), 2xvets, 2xchimera
Fast attack: 1 scout sentinal
Heavy support: standard russ

So what should i do dakka? For a while know i have considered a new army. I was thinking BT. Thoughts anyone? Please write an alternate army surgestion below. thanks for your help!

How do you play them, what tactics do you use, what weapon kits, what weapons in the HWS, etc etc? Off the top of my head, I'd say you're way to light on armor, both guns and transports. And a half a PBS doesn't do it.......... You want 8 psykers so that they are testing on a 2. You mention GK allies, what are they and how used?

I currently run 2 HB with a AC in squad while the other squad is a lascannon and 2 ML.
I tired the blob tactic with 40 guard, a commissar and a preist. they spent half the game holding down an objective and got demolished by a vindicator and a squad of bezerkers.
I rush my vets to objectivies in the chimeras (1 squad has 2 plasma gunns and a nade launcher while the other squad has 2 meltas and nade launcher)
The Russ stays back and shoots at anything (it destroyed a whirlwind, stunned the vindicator and inmobilesied it as well this game)
Marbo is my wild card which always manages to do nothing.
I keep my stormtroopers and sentinal in reserve and they try to work together. the sentinal has a HF which works in tandem with the stroomies (flamer and nade launcher).
My PBS has 7 psykers.

I have never used GK before last night and only had them to make 2000 points, i had 3 terminators all with NFW and stormbolter and a squad of 8 PAGK with a incinerator and psycannon. Also I didnt have my techpreist last night.

You need more tanks & some Valks. Mechanized is VERY good in this edition & Guard are VERY good at mech, you do the math .

Trade rules: lower rep trades ships 1st. - I ship within 2 business days, if it will be longer I will contact you & explain. - I will NOT lie on customs forms, it's a felony, do not ask me to mark sales as "gifts". Free shipping applies to contiguous US states.

You need more armor, and you lack antiarmor busting capacity...

You seem to play a static IG battleline, but lack the bodies and guns to do it..and 5th ed is more about mobility and flexibility, and sadly 2 vet squads in chimeras make them easy targets.....

This is the reason why you are having a difficult time...

I always argue against mixed weapon load outs in any army and I think its even more true for IG. Specialize units for a task and keep them focused on that task, you're better off moving a veteran melta squad at full speed towards a tank, then moving slower and plinking at infantry with mixed Anti-Personnel and Anti-Tank firepower. Two units, with each specialized differently (one anti armour, the other anti personnel) are better then two hybrid units at either task, and don't lure you into misusing them.

EDIT: also Autocannons are really just superior to Heavy Bolters in eight out of ten situations.

i dont think you need anythng new just your army list doesnt seem to have a plan in mind, just a bunch of cool stuff. i would mob up on melta vets in tanks or blob squads, or if you wanttanks, instead of a bunch of cool stuff which you seem to have. and AC are MUCH BETTER THAN HB

Russes are counterintuitively much better at shooting at infantry than at tanks. The way that ordnance blasts work an individual infantryman is a target the size of medium tank, and units present both bigger targets and the opportunity to score multiple hits with that big scary Ap3 wound on 2+ thingy. Battle cannons aren't well suited to hitting tanks and are quite disappointing in terms of damage capacity when shooting them. More efficient to use weapons that roll BS to hit for that task

The blob thing with commissars and priests is an aggressive formation. It works best when charging. If you do want to just sit back and hold objectives with it you could save a few points by migrating heavy weapons out of your heavy weapons squads and into it. And if you know the enemy has blast weapons you should deploy them in spaced out formation.

Stormtroopers generally aren't good unless you know exactly what you're doing.
