Hey, good article. So you use your penal legions in support of a main firebase, and also support the PL's with other units. Seems like a viable way to use them; outflanking infantry without a character. Excellent analysis of the strengths and weaknesses, target priorities and main threats.

Good work! Give me an idea of the rest of your usual army...

Fun and Fluff for the Win!

Thank you for your response. You want the rest of my army?

Ok lets do it strategical:

Firebase: 2 Executioners, 1 Manticore (Executioners for killing infantry of all kind standing close together, Manticore for taking out key vehicles with s10 ordnance or nob(-biker) squads)

Heavy skirmishers: 2 armoured sentinels with autocannons (they walk covered in front of the line, doing some chirurgical damage to small armoured transports and charge for a never ending combat against otherwise dangerous opponents in lategame)

First attack "wave": CCS chimera with Powerfist/Melta command + Melta veterans chimera

scoring unit in second line doing the killings: Mechanized Veterans with demolition charge and 3 flamers (sometimes used as flanking havoc with sergeant harker) This squad has a name: "The immortals" (from the persian elite footguard). Thats because they have black face wraps.

breaking unit: Battlepsykers in a chimera.

Flanking force: Stormtroopers, 3x penal legion

Machinery is: Melta first on transports -> transport down -> psykers weaken resolve into passengers -> executioner death to 25% -> ld check almost autofail -> flankers move up in the back escorting them home while shooting at different targets. That works well against enemy mech/msu if the enemy has big breaker units I lure them into my main line feeding them in an attrition infight and marching up at the very opposite edge killing the small guard to secure the victory.
