I was looking at some of the tau models on forge world and looked at my codex and dont see any of the models, are they for some of the expansions like apocalypse or cities of death maybe? Or can they still be used in regular warhammer 40k games?

Most FW stuff is in its own codex, you need to ask opponent permission to use them

I believe that most of the forge world stuff is crisis suits right?
If so just run them as regular suits.

Most of the models have their rules in IA3: Taros campaign, newer ones in subsequent FW Apocalypse books.
But as said above, you can always use the normal sized Crisis Suits counting as Crisis Suits (Hazard Suits are a bit bigger), same with the Broadside.

FW broadside suits are just broadside suits.

Some of the FW stuff is in the codex, but a lot of it is in Taros Campaign or Apocalypse II.

In general, you should ask for permission to use FW rules, if you are not going to use models which already have rules in the codex.

I run an all FW tau suit army (have a look in my gallery), and while I use the regular codex rules for the suits it doesn't stop you from using the minis. The XV-84 I use as shas upgrades with improved BS and I use XV-89's as basic suits. I also run Rimmer, and there is a rules pdf on the FW site. I also use the new XV-9's, the rules for the '9s are in IA Apoc 2.

They are great minis, but just be carefull how you store them in your figure case as the ankles are quite delicate. I tend to put a pin up through the foot into the leg, just for good measure

I've never run into a Dilbert who has refused to play me because of my use of FW models and rules, in fact I find the oposite is true. Your only issue is tourneys, where the organiser doesn't allow FW rules, but using them as 'counts as' should be no problem.
