Alrighty, we have a trailer released now and I have a veritable horde of photographs and screenshots from it here.

Not sure whether a spoiler warning is suitable or not at the moment, considering it's just looking at a trailer but anyways. My theories.

Spoiler:

A Qunari kills a king.
It seems we've a horde of Morrigans defending against an army of Templars in a big battle
Something that looks like a Childer from Awakening.
The main characters house gets burned down.
He then travels to potentially Weisshaupt Fortress
Fights some kind of Iron Robot or Golem
Has a romance with a pirate.
Possible a female Qunari as a companion.
There's assorted Undead beasties.
He has a dream about closing? the Deep Roads.
Oh, and there's a dragon. Big surprise there.

looks good but until i see the combat mechanics i wont be buying it, the combat in the 1st one sucked and put me right off the game.

I prefer for single player rpgs an oblivion/fable combat mechanic system.(I.E press a button to attack, not just sit and watch occasionally pressing a button to use a skill)

If atleast badmutha as the first then I'm sold.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

I do hope that the blood effects aren't as over the top as the first game.

In regards to my last post on this topic, I may indeed try play Dragon Age: Origins again as to give it another go as to speak. Then i may comment again if its good or bad

EDIT: I will give DA:O its due, it did provoke quite srong emotions (namely the city Elf one) which im guessing most RPG makers want to happen.

BioWare have stated that the console version will be built for consoles instead of being a terrible port this time. I welcome that change, as well as a voiced main character; I feel that silent protagonists in RPGs are becoming outdated.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

I also welcome this change. However was there not an RPG that had a voice acted character where you could choose his "Voice" from samples?? Or have I got games mixed up??

Well, Dragon Age had a few different response/combat voices, but they weren't used for actual conversations at all.

Qunari are the foreign humans like Sten from the first game. The male with the king and the female in the flashback are Darkspawn.

(THIS SPACE INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK)

I liked the interplay between characters in the first game, but the combat was meh to me and the prevalence of invisible walls was jaw dropping.

Hopefully they will fix all my issues with the game and ship it so that it isn't broken and bug filled this time.

Do you remember that time that thing happened?

The Ministry of Love: Room 101

I loved Dragon Age: Origins as a throwback to the older party based RPGs.

The main problem I had with it was that having a Mage with alot of AoE/CC spells made any non boss fights trivial and tedious as the game progressed (yes even on nightmare).

I liked that most of the boss fights actually took some semblance of strategy to win (Awakenings expounded on this more so)

Gotta agree on the invisible walls though, some of the areas were way too small/pointless as well.

Ah, that's where you're wrong!

Dragon Age wiki wrote:Qunari are a large humanoid race hailing from the island nations of Par Vollen and Seheron in northern Thedas. They have bronze-hued skin, white hair, pointed ears, and vivid eyes with colors like violet, red, or yellow. Qunari are considered physically more robust than humans.

In Dragon Age 2, it is revealed that most qunari have horns. Some are born without them, but it is not considered a defect—on the contrary, those born without horns are considered special, as they are meant for a special role in qunari society such as a Ben-Hassrath or an envoy to the other races. Sten, as a soldier of the Beresaad, falls into this category. It is not uncommon for qunari who betray their beliefs to remove their own horns (as in the case of Armaas), though the reason for this act is not yet clear

The ones in the trailer are true Qunari. Sten is special.
