Dear Dakka Dakka,

This is in a similar vein as my other thread, but it's slightly different.

If I have a horde unit and I want to place my BSB on the far corner of the front rank, is there anything from stopping me doing that?

BRB, Pg.97, Position in Unit, just says they are placed in the front rank. It doesn't specify where.

I apologize if this was already discussed.

Thanks.

As far as I'm aware, it doesn't matter. The rulebook says front rank, and that is in the front rank.

Now a question I have about this is hiding a character (mage) in the second rank. You could conceivably make it so that you have the 3 command models, and two hero's in the front rank. If you wanted to put a mage in that group, would it be in the second rank, or would you have to make it 6 men wide to match that rule?

The mage can go in the second rank in that instance - in fact if you have 5 models wide a Character HAS to go in the 2nd rank.

Good, because I plan on having a horde unit and I want my BSB to be able to affect as many units to it's flank as possible.
