hello everyone,
I am new to the forums and decided I should say hi and tell you all a little about myself. I started playing things like D&D and the like back when I was about 11. It didn't take long to get me hooked. By 12 I was creating my own campaigns & stories for my fellow players. As some of you may know, D&D uses miniatures on a map with 1x1" squares to display combat. At the age of 15-16 i started looking for more accurate & detailed models to represent myself on the combat board. This led me into my first Games Workshop experience. I was amazed by the massive variety of miniatures around me. Unfortunately it wouldn't be until I was 18 before I could afford to invest into the hobby. I picked up a tau codex & the Tau starter set to begin my
WH40k era. Not being well informed I made simple, but stupid mistakes that made my models illegal by rule standards. by the weekend I had my models put together & based, but mostly not even primed, let alone painted. Arriving at my local games shop I tried to get someone to play a game with me. It went very badly. I never even made it to the table before I was insulted & belittled in front of everyone for my "

ing noob army". I went home & threw my box into a corner of my closet, never to be looked upon again.
Wow OK that was pretty long, but I felt it was necessary to put some background in before getting up to the present. Fast forward 9 years, I am at the mall where my local Games Workshop once was. In its place was a new store called
The Battle Standard. I wander in & see the usual Games Workshop stuff, but then something new catches my eye. I wander over to it & instantly my fear of Miniature game was washed away with excitement. I ask the store owner what this game was, he replies that the game I am looking at was called Warmachine & that the model I was pointing to was a Warcaster for the faction called Cryx. Fast forward a few months and I am playing regularly with some great people. Through them I meet a lot of the current War hammer &
40k players. These guys are much nicer & hardly care if your painted so long as the model is there & on a base. The itch for playing
40k comes back.
Like a drug addict, Warmachine was my gateway drug into more miniature gaming. I am currently beginning my Space marine army in the hopes of getting into
40k again. If that goes well I think I would like to begin a fantasy army as well. For anyone who is still reading this, thank you for putting up with my long winded and very one sided conversation
lol. I hope to meet some really cool & friendly people here on the forum as well as display & get help building into my first
40k army!
For the Emperor!
