Anyone knows an online store with cheap army cases?

Maelstrom Games has some for a really good price but they don't ship them outside the UK.

Thanks

Runnin up on ya.

warstore has some cardboard ones.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

I'd say just buy the foam separate and carry them around in a cardboard box. Cases usually run $70-$100, so it is quite a savings.

Mantic Games has some small ones, good for small squads iirc but not for large things

I think if you're really cheap a good tackle box is perfect along with some cut foam

What I intended to say came out wrong.

I want the real warhammer case but just looking for a place where it's a little less expensive than on GW website or in local gaming store.

Blech, why would you want that PoS? Get a Sabol bag.

Cheapest place you'll find a GW bag is probably either the War Store or eBay. One of those will be used and smell of pee.

Dunno exactly what the standard of 'cheap' is - kaiserrushforth does some cheap foam trays and cardboard cases to hold them in (the idea is you can get an aluminium case to carry an army round in, then switch trays in and out of it, storing them in cardboard the meantime).

http://www.kaiserrushforth.com/ their website is a bit of a mess, but I think their product is a very efficient way of keeping things organised, and a wide range of foam trays are available.

If you're in Europe, Feldherr also offers interesting stuff, you can store 180 minis for the same price as a standard GW case, which stores only 108 minis. Plus the case is made of very strong canvas and zip, and comes with a 5-years guarantee. That's the brand I'm using to store my Blood Bowl stuff.

Here's what I use. It's rigid, protective, and cheap.

Plastic Thread cases (sometimes called bead cases) can be excelent ways of storing and transporting minis.

http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/craft-storage-box-666735/ The ones I am speaking about have the length and width close to that of a standard piece of paper and a depth of 1.25-2 inches. They can be found for 2-4 dollars at craft stores. Hobby lobby has a nice version for 2 bucks. Placing a piece of 1/2 inch foam in each compartment (16-25 compartments depending on model) leaves exacly the right room in each compartment for 1-2 figures based on 25mm rounds. Each case can hold 18-35 figures. A real advantage of these over all-foam miniature storage is that they can be stored outside a larger transport case without getting dirty, and being rigid, you're much less likely to spill your miniatures.

They can also be stacked and transported inside a standard letter file tote, which can be found for 10-14 dollars at office stores. I have a couple that are similar to this.

http://www.stacksandstacks.com/iris-handy-file-box-organizer-top-durable-file-box-with-tote-handle-and-lockable-buckle-hfb-24-top

A plastic file tote can carry 5-6 thread cases with enough room left along side the cases for a rulebook and codex. For those who don't trust the side clasp, there are versions available with a handle that attaches to the sides of the box itself.

When it comes to vehicles, or elaborate figures I build a cardboard box the same width and length of the case and an appropriate height for the vehicle/figures, and pad it appropriately with foam.

File tote: 15 bucks
5 bead cases 10 bucks (5x $2)
Foam 8 bucks from craft store (I use free foam from packing materials)

32 bucks for a rigid storage solution that will hold about 80-150 figures.

If I can ever get a proper camera, I'll make a separate thread about this.

Rigid compartment boxes are going to chip those paintjobs really fast...

Yeah, I heard that back when I started doing this, but 6 years on, I haven't had a problem with chipping. A few possible contributing factors.

1) The 1/2 of foam that I put at the bottom of each compartment just barely hugs the base of the miniature (assuming you've put the figure in on it's back) between the foam and the top of the case, minimizing minature movement

2) The plastic cases are made from a soft plastic similar to what army men are made out of rather than a harder plastic like a polycarbonate. It's a small factor, but probably contributes

3) I don't use this case for airline travel. The amount of jostling resulting from handling, scanning, and possibly a cargo hold is more than my transport system could accomadate.

4) One final possible contributing factor is that my Guard army is dipped and sprayed with a clearcoat, so they figs are pretty bombproof. They tumble off tables to hard floors and are far more likely to break or have pieces come off than they are to have paint damage. However my Space Marine army (which doesn't get out as much) has no dip or clearcoat, and it hasn't had any chipping so I may be overstating the dipping factor.

Anywho, do with that what you may. It's not for everyone, but for those seeking an affordable modular storage system it's a pretty strong alternative.

The foam on each compartment sounds like a neat trick that possibly saves the day for the paintjobs since the minis dont bounce on every rigid wall of the compartments.

The cheapest system I can recall is to steal wifes tupperwares and kitchen paper to wrap every mini and put them inside the tupperwares... Lets just say wife must not discover your ways... so use stealth Not the most elegant system or practical but its cheap.

Dual Pistol Case from Walmart $7-10. You get four beds of roomy egg crate foam that makes 2 layers. Cheap and functional.

Gun/Rifle cases are a good, sturdy & cheap way to go. I got a rifle case once from Kmart for like $10, was full of egg carton foam. I used it to transport my 2000 pt empire army back in the day. they're great for if you have lots of infantry.

KR multicases do a card case, sounds naff but bought one the other day, so impressed I ordered another 2 this morning. Very tough stuff and nice foam. Fully tailored foam too for whatever your army is based on, large models, armour, troops etc.
