This is the first time I have ever touched the IG book so here it goes.

HQ

-Command squad w/ chimera = 105 pts

Troops

-Infantry platoon = 365

- Platoon Command Squad w/ chimera = 85
- Infantry Squad = 50
- Infantry Squad = 50
- Infantry Squad = 50
- Heavy Weapon Squad w/ missile launchersX3 = 90
- Heavy Weapon Squad w/ missile launchersX3 = 90

-Vet Squad w/ flamer X2, Heavy flamer, carapce armor, Chimera = 185

Fast Attack

-Hellhound or bane wolf = 130

Heavy support

-Manticore = 160

Total = 995

Few notes. I dont wanna go with the all mech list that most everyone runs. I have mech orks and CSM. I know the value of transport but them being the main show is getting a little old. Both command units are naked. I dont really feel they should be bringing anything other then there orders. The chimeras for them are to put armor on the table. Give them a little mobility as well as the general fire power the chimera has on its own.

The vet squad and hellhound/bane wolf will work together to hit a flank and burn things up. Which would be better to go with? The hellhound has the range but the bane wolfs chem cannon is just brutal no matter what you shoot it at.(outside of armor of course)

I did some reading and people seem to not like heavy weapons squad but I feel they are great. You just need a good amount of them on the table. I may re work the points to get another squad of them in.

I dont think the manticore needs to be explained. Just a generally good heavy support option all around. Can pop tanks or infantry. As well as I can keep it hidden the whole game if needed. Yes it only has 4 shots but I doubt people will let it live that long. But if it does get all 4 shots off i imagine there wont be alot left on the table at theat point anyways.

So C&C welcome and I do wanna say agian I am not looking to do the typical mech guard. Gunline with a touch of mech is more what I am going for.

I'd say Get rid of flamers on vets

Waste of their BS 4. instead take 3 meltaguns since it seems you have little reliable weapons to deal with AV14

other than that looks alright I suppose. maybe add in a spec weapon somewhere

Incinerating your hopes

I'm severely concerned about about your complete lack of long range anti-vehicular fire power. In fact I'd say that you're in big trouble. Two BS3 missile launchers = complete trash, absolute waste of points. As are the three units of naked guardsmen. Other than die, give away free KP, and fail at holding objectives they're using 150 points in your list and earning nothing for their space. I'm pretty certain that if one singular marine assault squad gets a multi-charge off on those naked, useless, guardsmen they'll all die in one turn, giving no wounds in the wake of bloodshed. Because that's how good they are naked. As stated drop those flamers and give the vets some melta or plasma goodness, they need/deserve it. Drop the hellhound and buy a Vendetta, another Manticore, or something else. IG has one of the best or the best long range games in 40k, they generally blow a huge $#%@ in close quarters. If your enemy makes it to that range you're dead, period. Armor and guns, armor and guns, armor and guns, you need them badly. Just my opinion, however.

I am sorry I thought it was clear they were ML teams. So everyone has one. So 6 MLs not 2

I'm also new to the Guard angle, but I'll toss my two cents in anyhow.

I agree that the flamers on the vets might be a bit of waste, meltas seem like a good idea, then give the chimera double flamers to make up for it. Remember that the vehicle and squad don't have to shoot at the same target!

Vox casters on your primary Command Squad and your HW and/or Infantry blob could be useful for guaranteeing the essential BRING IT DOWN and FIRST RANK SECOND RANK orders! The platoon command squad might be able to ditch their chimera if something else needed some buffs, they're much less important that the other CS.
