Hey folks,
Wanted to get people's thoughts on adding Dog's of War unit's into armies in WFB 8th. I know many of the newer books do not have Dog's of War entries however some of the older books still have them. This would be for a dwarf army.
Scenario 1: Adding Ironguts or Ogre Bulls. I figure this is ok, given the explaination in the Ogre Kingdom's book, but still wanted to check.
Scenario 2: Adding a Goblin Hewrer. This is a little unclear to me as there is no faq indicating how it would count. A regular Dwarf army in 7th added Malakai and the Hewrer taking up a Hero and Special slot. I have 2 thoughts on this.
A. Pay the points, BUT it counts towards the special, and reduce the amount available for hero's. IE points only are added into the special, but i'd have less available for the Hero perchentages. Doesn't affect me to much as I still stay away from lots of points in characters.
B. Pay only points in special, only counts towards special. This would be similar to how the Anvil of Doom and some characters now work. Previously the 7th, you took up an extra hero, but now the FAQ's indicating just taking points from Lords/ Hero/ slots respectively.
Thoughts? I wanted to post it as i'm sure it will come up down the line, and rather have some thoughts ahead of time.

Dogs of War (except for Ogres) are as legal as they ever were. Their rules are completely self contained in the DOW PDFs.
Of course you should check with the Tournament Organizer or your opponents to see if they are ok with the additions.

But with all the ogre DoWs removed are there really any other units with the rule left to take?
note: noob question.

You could still take the Regiments of Renown and the standard DoW units per their 6th edition ruleset. Not sure if GW still has the PDF's for them up or not. I have them if anyone would like them.
