I have gotten into Borderlands late, but really getting into it. Currently running Mordecai at lvl 22 or 23. Nothing like hearing Mord. laughing like mad after a head shot. Gotta love the twisted sense of humor in this game.
I have not gotten any of the DLCs, but I was wonder about them:
- should I get them now or wait until after I finish the game?
- which DLCs are worth their points?
- if I get them, what lvls should I start them at?
Just wanted to see what you guys thought.

The Zombie Island of Doctor Ned is fun and useful at any level. Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot should only be played at max level (but it's a fairly worthless addon as it is), as you gain no experience and it's fething hard. The Secret Armory of General Knoxx can be played after you've finished the main storyline; somewhere around level 40.
My advice? Skip the underdome completely (unless you really want a bank for your items), buy the Zombie Island expansion immediately, and wait to get The Secret Armory until you've finished everything else there is to finish.

Moxxi is only good for extra skill points when you are capable of finishing all 3 full matches and to increase storage space. The other two are are quite fun and worth a play through. Looking forward to the upcoming fourth with the army of Claptraps.

Zobie Island is at it's best at low level (10-15), Moxxi is pretty fun in multiplayer (which is the only way to play Borderlands) and Armory is pretty much the best dlc in the history. You can start any dlc when you want but the stories are set after the mainquest.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.
If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in. |

Zombie Island in itself makes Borderlands worth playing.
I agree with what's been said above: go with Zombie and Knoxx, skip Moxxi.

I have the Secret Armory DLC, but have avoided buying Zombie Island so far since the Steam version still has Securom bundled with it.
Also in case anyone is interested another DLC pack will be released sometime this September.

I finished Zombie Island. Gotta say it was a blast! Loved the end when you take on Dr. Ned, then the surprise happens. I love how Borderlands intros it Bosses. The splash shot and the comments. Like Sledge's, "P.S. You Guys Aren't Friends". Those got me cracking up and then Dr. Ned's were great.
While playing ZI, I started off shooting everything that moved. But, for some reason, after I would shut the game off, it would start be back at the very start of the Island. Annoying to go all the way back to where I left off, but I started just running back to where I was. That was fine the first time until I figured out they just followed me. Nothing like turning around and seeing a horde ( ) of them coming up behind ya. Gotta love it!
After playing this, I'm kinda in the mood for L4D2. hummmmm.....
Side note. Gamestop is now doing this thing to where you can go in a by individual DLCs. I picked up ZI and Armory. I like doing this instead of screwing around w/ Microsoft points. You get the points and then you got those few left over that you really can't get anything (of value). Anyone else using these? Just asking.

I loved Zombie Island as well. "You're an orphan!". Looking at most of these DLC's I see that the staff was genuinely having fun making these. The jokes and the intros are just fantastic along with last two main achievements/trophies, there's more of an impact with the achievements, but I was laughing my rear end off.

Wow.
Ummmm...
Wow.
What else can I say after such a deep and thoughtful ending? Makes me think back to the old Mario endings, "Sorry, Mario. The princess is in the OTHER castle."
Thank God for the Knoxx DLC. What was up w/ the Ninja Assassin Clap Trap?
Hey, I have two "Artifact" upgrades and they will not take. They say they can't be use right now. Been that way for that last three lvls. Just asking.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first two thirds of Secret Armory on Playthrough 2. Many enemies were in the low sixties in level and it had some challenge to it. Unfortunately, the missions get repetitive. The big crab was fun to take down with three of us.
I then hit Zombie Island and that was a joke as far as difficulty. I should have done that first.
Right now, the Underdome is a PITA. I've gotten through one set of twenty rounds and still have two more to go. It takes a good 3.5 to 4.0 hours each run. Ugh.

I actually enjoyed Underdome a lot. It's not so much fun to just solo it, but with a group competing for kills and working together on the badass/boss waves is rather entertaining.
Zombie Island is probably the most fun, imo, having done it half-way through the original campaign. The Wereskags probably would have been a lot more annoying if I weren't playing a soldier with a bullet-hose of flaming death, but I swear to god I will murder whoever thought it was a good idea to reanimate midgets.
Knoxx was a bunch of fun as well, especially the last boss fight (although the loot at the end was surprisingly disappointing compared to the dakka I was carting around by that point, what with the massive piles of assault rifles your average enemy drops). The spider-things were possibly the most annoying enemy I've fought, though.

Hey, borderlands is awesome IMO, but I would wait. Around November time there will be a GOTY edition with the 3 DLC's and 1 extra (I believe it's called something about claptraps IIRC).
