Too many engines switch one out for a war-spear chief or even drop it.
Needs skirmishers, either camos or regular skinks are essential to deal with those warmachines.
What lores will you use and why are the TG championless, do you really want those slanns taking challenges.
Oh and the bane head needs a feedback scrool to work on slaans.
Also im curious, what lores will you use, also keep in mind that by RAW those need to be chosen during list building making your list illegal for something as official as ard boyz.

If you want to run two Slann I think you really need to squeeze the Focus of Rumination onto both of them or you're not going to have enough dice to cast many spells.

Why does he want to take 2 slanns, and 2 skink priests? I do not see how 2 slanns with Mystery (and without Rumination) would really work, let alone the 2 skink priests.
The big blocks certainly work well in combat, but outside of the 2 stegs EotG there isn't anything to support.
I'd drop the 2nd Steg altogether. Use the points to pick up Rumination on both Slann (maybe even Cogitation on one of the Slann) as it can prevent any opposing wizard with Purple Sun from getting IF. You could also get some Skink Skirmishers. Definately need some champions in the TG units. One of your Slann should also be a BSB.
HoverBoy, Cupped hands will work with the banehead, although a feedback scroll has the potential to do far more wounds.

Defiantly give both Slann Focused Rumination. I'd make one Lore of Life with the Bane Head, Feedback Scroll, BSB, and Banner of Discipline. The other, Lore of Light with Cupped Hands.
I'd drop the Priest from an EotG and just run it as an Ancient.
Another option would be to drop a unit of Temple Guard for more supporting stuff(like Chameleon Skinks, Skink Skirmishers, More Sallies, Terradons) and just run the Lore of Light Slann close to an infantry unit for the +4 Look Out Sir! and give him Higher State of Consciousness and/or Divine Plague of Protection.

Agree with a lot of the above. If he's set on going with 2 slanns, he definitely needs the discipline to give an extra dice when they cast!! If you roll low on winds of magic, that's it- a huge percentage of your army isn't doing anything!
I think for something like 'Ard Boyz, the warspear skink chief could come in really handy... if you're planning to take two character skinks on stegadons. Don't they all get hit with a cannonball now, or is it still randomized?

Only templates hit both (so say ridden monster rules), and the cannon rules say it only makes one hit per model so its still random.
What i'm curious about is the rule in cannons that says if the monster dosen't die the ball stops there, so if the hit is randomised on the character what happens then, that shot can't kill the monster, does it stop there then (after most likely squashing the unlucky char)

Take a look at page 105 under templates again Hoverboy.
It says both the rider and his mount ar automatically hit if any part of the template is touching the base (this includes bouncing cannonballs)
Also 2 slanns without rumination is pretty horibad.
One slann without rumination is almost as bad..
Drop one of the slanns, buff up the TG unit to use as an anvil, drop one of the engine stegs and put in some scar vets.

You missed the part about wanting two Slann? That was part of what he wanted. I know jack about making Lizardmen armies work, so I just cobbled this monster together. I am going to pass along all of this to him, so I really appreciate the help guys.

Hmm. might i suggest this slann stup:
Slann 1=370
Lore of Life
Focus of Mystery
The Focused Rumination
Cupped Hands of the Old Ones
Slann 2=355
Lore of Death
Focus of Mystery
Higher State of Counsciousness
Divine Plaque of Protection
Total=725
It would allow you to run the death Slann solo thus saving on one unit of temple guard, these points can then go towards getting some skirmishers, either camo or normal, and possibly upgrade a EotG priest to level two and give him the plaque of tepok, the dispell scroll on the other hand may go on a foot priest whos only purpoce is to use it and potentially make use of that rather nice signature spell, unless he rolls something better.

This is pretty good although I'd give the Cupped Hands to the Death Slann since the Life Slann should have Throne of Vines up at all times.
