Hey all,
No, this is not a "Let's make CoD4 grimdark and then pwn some newbs" thread. This is a, "has anyone thought to transfer the CoD series, namely 4, and MW2, into a 40k book, featuring the Storm Troopers?" I was thinking about this the other day, and I got started on the first chapter of Call of the Aquila: 40,000. I was just wondering, has anyone else thought about/done/seen something like this? I don't want to steal anyone's idea. Also, I wouldn't consider myself the best writer, so.... Let me know what you think.
Peace
Doop

I think kitbashing IPs is asking for trouble.
Write it well and you have my blessing.
If it's a horribly written mess of a fanfic that flies in the face of both IPs, I will have your scalp, sir.
That is all.

I shall join you in that scalp-taking, should this go awry. Even though I would risk losing my soul to Khorne in doing so...

No idea what CoD is. As you have not given an explanation the post is completely useless. I'm assuming it is neither Cities of Death or Close Order Drills as neither of these make sense within the context of your writing.

Call of Duty.
Specifically, Call of Duty 4 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
It's pretty clear from his first post that that's what he meant.

I think he is trying to combine Call of Duty with 40k. I have a pic to summarize this:

If it were clear, I wouldn't have asked. I do not play Call of Duty ergo the lack of reference.

Then instead of a vitriolic comment at the OP's expense, you do a Google search. Try it, go ahead. Search "CoD4" in Google and see how many of your results are Call of Duty 4.
Hint: all of them.

Just remember to write in at least 4 parts where the protagonist gets killed in first person and the viewpoint switches to a new protagonist.
That never gets old.

I honestly can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, but it really doesn't, for me.
Granted, I saw it coming miles away in the second game, and spent most of the game thinking, "which protagonist is going to get killed off this time?"
But I did enjoy that bit of innovation in first-person narration on the part of Infinity Ward.
Is that strange?

Not trying to bash the IP (seriously), but what parts of CoD would make for a cross over? I've only played CoD4, granted, but apart from fairly generic character hooks, it recollects as just "generic soldiers doing generic soldier stuff".
I get that it's a fun game and what not, I'm just really struggling to understand what part of it you would transport to 40k that would make it a cross over, and not just another 40k story involving IG.

I shouldn't have to do a Google search when someone can just explain themselves sufficiently from the beginning. As you are not the OP, a discussion with you is moot as you are more concerned with flaming me for making a reasonable request from said OP.

Modquisition on. Lets all move forward now shall we. COD has been clarified as Call of Duty and not:
Cash on Delivery (my first thought)
Cities of Death (my second thought).

Ok, as stated, CoD is Call of Duty. Also, as stated, I am not the best writer, this is just an idea I had, I was more looking as someone to write it, and I could tell them my ideas, but I can write it. I might as well spell them out here, in summarised form.
Captain Price and his squad: Veteran Storm Troopers (i.e., best of the best, all that cliché stuff )
Al Asad: Apostate Cardinal
Al Asad's men: Khornate rebels
Imran Zakhaev: Thousand Sons Sorceror
Zakhaev's men: Imperial Guard Traitors, for Tzeentch. Also a few Thousand Sons.
Yeah, so, what do you think?

No, just....no.
COD4 and MW2 are modern, warhammer 40K is set so far into the future that this is invalid.
Oh and my hat is a crab so your arguement is invalid.

I was being semi-serious. I thought it was cool the first time, but the second time was getting a bit much, considering how they've done it in other CoD games too. It was really well done in CoD4 with the nuke though.
OP, don't try to cross two IPs that don't mix. There's enough room in the 40k universe for some tactilol IG to fight badguys without you forcing a plot made for an unrelated videogame on us. It's not like the story in the CoD games is that great; it's just there to be a half decent link between setpieces.

IMO, the only kill-off I didn't like was the death of Gaz and Captain Price. Lucky Captain Price didn't actually die, and Gaz was reincarnated as Ghost.... or so they say...
Noted, BSRM.
