The following is an army list for a large BA army I am currently working on with the intention of selling (or keeping if the price isn't right). It is based on some old 2nd Ed minis I received with the aim of providing as much variety and options as possible to give a wide choice of selection for games up to 2,500pts worth - although by the time I finish it'll probably be in the region of 3,000 points. The Troops/Elites and Scout Bikers are a definite although I'm unsure on a few things, primarily Heavy Support/HQ choices - although I am thinking of including all the special characters. Any suggestions would be most welcome. I've included units I could add now in [-].

HQ
Dante 225 (or other Special Character)
Librarian 100 + (optional - on or off Bike)

Elites
Sanguinary Priest w/hand flamer 60
Sanguinary Priest w/hand flamer and jump pack 85
Chaplain w/hand flamer and jump pack 135
5 Sanguinary Guard w/ Death Masks, Chapter Banner & an Infernus Pistol 265

Troops
2 Ten Man Tactical Squads with Flamer/Missile Launcher (free) and Rhino's 220 each or 440 total
Ten Man Assault Squad with Flamer, Meltagun & Sgt. w/Power Fist & Plasma Pistol 245
5 Scouts w/ Bolters and a Locator Beacon 100
7 Death Company: w/Jump Packs, 2 Thunderhammers, 2 Power Weapons & a Plasma Pistol inc. Lemartes 500

Fast Attack
3 Scout Bikers w/ 1 Astartes Grenade Launcher, Cluster Mines, Locator Beacon 115
Baal Predator (unsure of load out but tempted by Heavy Bolter and Flamestorm Cannon) 140+
[5 Vanguard Veterans - 2 PW & PP's, 1 RB]
[5 Bikes w 2 Meltaguns and Sgt. w/PF]

Heavy Support
???
I'm tempted by a Vindicator or a Ten Man Devastator Squad w/2 Plasma Cannons & 2 Lascannons - perhaps with a Transport...

Thanks for looking...

First off, you can't post the indivdual cost for upgrades in your post.

Secondly, I'd like to see more troops, maybe a few assult squads with removeable jump packs and some Razorbacks to go with them. Thats whats really popular with BA these days.

As far as Heavy Support goes, you can never go wrong with some Predators. I would caution against the devastators as they really dont fit inot the whole BA scheme.

Also, if this is an army that will be painted to sell, I demand pictures!

Thanks for the advice and correction...I'll consider adding an AS or two with a RB and TL AC's.

As for MORE Troops, did you read the list correctly? C'mon I've got 5 choices (4 scoring) at nigh on 1,300 points worth not including the Sanguinary Guard if Dante is taken.
I'll also have to disagree with Devastators not fitting the BA scheme. They are a Codex organised chapter so Devastators are all gravy - and you've got to love those plasma cannons

As for pictures I am doing a WIP for this army which can be found here, although it's very early days...

Thanks again...

Ok, let me expand on my orginal post alittle more.

The two most popular ways to play BA's right now are either; Takeing a bunch of assult squads with priests and deep striking them useing DoA, or takeing a bunch of assult squads, removeing their jet packs and takeing a bunch of razorbacks.

If I was going to build a list to sell, I would utilize mostly Assult Squads with magnitized jump packs, and a Las/Plas razorback for each squad. That way, you can play two ways with the same models.

The Sanguinary Guard are some neat models, I have two boxes of them waiting to be assembled and painted. Their two biggest drawbacks are that they are expensive and they lack an invulnerable save. However they are cool and make a nice center peice to any BA army.

Devastators....Now follow me on this, because it makes sense in my head. The Blood Angels are an army thats based on Pin-point deep striking, due to Decent of Angels, and fast vehicles. They are a quick and nimble army that excells in close combat. Then you stick them with a unit of devastators, that can't move, or they wont be able to shoot. Just seems like a miss match to me when you could instead have a Dreadnough or a Predator, that will be able to better keep up with the army.

I just took a look at your WIP thread, looks like you have your work cut out for you, those are some old Rhinos, can't wait to see what all your stuff turns out like!

I understand your view and logic completely. The trouble with HS elements in a BA army is that they would be more or less ineffective when the bulk of the assault units get into combat (by the 2nd or 3rd turn) if you go assault heavy - and large template weapons can always come to bite your own troops. So perhaps you're right, a Dreadnought (or two) would be ideal and I will probably go for that...however I find that Devastators, in cover, with a Sanguinary Priest nearby say, can lay down a lot of support fire at multiple targets (if split into combat squads) and cause your opponent to stretch their force a little more - especially if the DS is covering an objective or two within its field of fire.

I also kind of want this to be a more 'rounded' list, with options for most 'styles' of play. It's early days for the army so there is time and options to add/remove more units if need be as I haven't begun the bulk of the painting. For my money Tactical Squads are essential in any marine army as they are ideal for holding ground and I find that smaller squads in razorbacks only need to take a few casualties and then become useless at securing objectives/winning (although I am personally not an overtly competitive, or indeed, serious, player).
As for the list itself it's largely based on what I have at hand as I have a limited budget - the more I spend the more chances I'll take with loss/profit.

I feel the army as it stands currently has plenty of assault options (3 units with JP's) but perhaps I should include a third Sanguinary Priest w/JP to give the SG more staying power. This way all the JP assault units will/could have Feel No Pain.

Thanks a lot for the advice and encouragement though - I'm sure I'll squeeze in a Dread and a Razorback (or 2) by the end!

The thing about assult squads, and the whole concept behind takeing them is that, on one hand, they can be assult infantry and get whereever you want them quickly. You can also remove their jump packs and it makes your transports cost 35 points less.

Before you go and buy any more or paint any more I would recommend that you take a look at some other peoples BA list and see what the people playing the armies are feilding. I guarentee you though that you wont find many Tactical Squads or Devastators.

Point taken. I'll include another Assault Squad - I have one available, I just need arms for it. If I can get them cheap enough on Ebay I'll see to getting a Razorback and perhaps even a Land Raider
