I decided I didn't particularly like my old army list so decided to make a new one

So here goes:

HQ(100)
Librarian(Gate,Vortex): 100

TROOPS(840)
10xTacs (PF,Flamer,ML)+Rhino: 230

10xTacs (PF,Flamer,ML)+Rhino: 230

10xTacs (Flamer,PC)+Rhino: 210

10x Scouts(Camo,Snipers): 170

ELITE(140)
Dreadnought +Drop pod: 140

FAST(180)
Land Speeder(Typhoon): 90

Land Speeder(Typhoon): 90

HEAVY(240)
Predator(Lascannon Sponsons): 120

Predator(Lascannon Sponsons): 120

TOTAL –
1500

Time for you guys to tear it apart All advice is welcome as I'm not particularly familiar with the quirks of 5th ed. rules

your libby is useless... Vortex is a heavy weapon and if you gate (or move in that matter) you can't use it... If you wanna go around and vortex, take terminator armour...
I hope you don't plan to port around scouts... Sniper is a heavy weapon, and snipers (especially with camo) are better in cover... And cover is dangerous terrain for gate... Anyhow, libby is going to be alone and thus vulnerabe, especially without termi armour... Oh, and you can't gate + vortex unless he's epistolar, and vortex has range 12''.... So I would do something about that.... Although epistolar termi is 175pts, or 190 with ss

What is your dread packing? For 140 with pod it is melta + stormbolter, right? I would give him flamer for 10pts.... And one dread isn't as efficient as 2

You have 4 troop choice, which is nice... I personally never go anywhere without PF sarge, cuz that is lot of pts for squad that if assaulted by heavy armour is dead... Perhaps a little too much troop for 1500pts (especially with combat squading - scouts who can then sit on objective)... I would drop one squad (without PF) and add some other options... Perhaps adding second dread with pod, and podding one of tacticals which should then take MM as heavy weapon (nice bubble in enemy base )... That way your libby can drop with marines, since pod can carry 12 and vortex enemies. And you would have extra 50pts for libby to spend....

Like the typhoons, great cover in this army for your marines and can do great against hordes, and pop up transporters and medium tanks...

Preds are great... Especially two of them... Don't have anything against them... At least until next update of a list

Chinchilla pretty much summed this one up.

My only suggestion to you would be to drop the dreadnought and pod and use those points to upgrade the scouts to a tactical squad and upgrade the Rhinos to Razorbacks.

Ok so here goes round two...

The plan initially was to try and fit a sternguard squad to gate around with the libby with combo meltas but couldnt find the points without reducing my anti tank capabilities too much.(I dont want to have to rely on them for the job)

HQ(150)
Librarian(Epistolary,Gate,Vortex): 150

TROOPS(630)
10xTacs (PF,Flamer,ML)+Rhino: 230

10xTacs (PF,Flamer,MM)+Drop pod: 230

10x Scouts(Camo,Snipers): 170

ELITE(300)
Dreadnought (Flamer)+Drop pod: 150

Dreadnought (Flamer)+Drop pod: 150

FAST(180)
Land Speeder(Typhoon): 90

Land Speeder(Typhoon): 90

HEAVY(240)

Predator(Lascannon Sponsons): 120

Its pretty much just the changes chinchilla mentioned and the spare 50pts was used to make libby epistolary and tbh I actually quite like the idea of having such a formiddable force sitting in the middle of the enemy base, even if I can only get 2 pods in first turn.

Cater: Im not a huge fan of the razorbacks due to the lowered transport capacity, It forces me to combat squad, which I may not always want to do depending on the type of mission, or the army I am playing against.

Any more thoughts or recommendations?

Rather drop epistolar and take terminator armor and stormshield... You still can't use vortex... This way you can vortex the same round you drop... Or change vortex to avenger, so that you can gate and shoot... I prefer termi armour & ss, cuz it makes you 2+/3++ save in close combat.... And your squad will be assaulted

For extra 10 pts you would save, you could take lascannon in one marine squad (the one in rhino)... That way you can combat squad against mech-heavy list and keep 5 marines (pf, flamer & 3xbolter) in rhino and put rest in cover with lascannon...

yeah, i know... I find it hard to play steinguard in 1500 and stay competitive... But as your list grows, you can add them... If you convert this list to 1850, then you can take rhino (and drop MM for ML) for tacticals and give that pod for steinguards (with 3 combi-melta+pod) it's 300pts... and you can get epistolar on termi... That would give you jump with gate, vortex and 18 special ammo shots, or 3 melta shots + again vortex vs heavy vehicles

And as for only 2 pods... It's better to save marines for later, when you pop enemy transport, so that they drop on survivors... You have 50% chance that you will drop that pod in turn 2 (which is best case for you), and 83% chance that it will drop on turn 3, which is not that bad (you still have one rhino squad)... So the fact that only two pods can drop down on turn 1 is quite good

Try out your list... I'd like to get some feedback
Was thinking of playing similar...

To play this list I am going to need a few proxies or to borrow some models lol. I'm looking to buy some more but want to pick a direction for my army that I'm happy with before committing the money to it.
It may be a while before I get to play the list as I recently moved and need to get a few things sorted and find somewhere nearby to play (its a bit difficult to move my army around as is) though when I do I will definately give you some feed back.

We all do.

Which is why I AM SO HAPPY that I actually have real models for my current BA list. No like seriously, I jumped up and down in joy when I realized that.

Well, back OT: I'd drop gate, there is nothing in your list worth gating with. Null Zone is always the first power I would take, making the opponent's face wince when they realize that their TH/SS termies will be eaten by plasma cannons is just bleeping golden.

As for the other power, Avenger is your best bet. Vortex you need termie armor for and smite you still have to roll to hit.

I play avanger/ null zone libby and it's great... But i don't think that gate is bad... He can gate marines, so that even when he drops them with pod, he can maneuver them around... He should take termi armour and ss anyways, cuz gating and vortex is no can do... But if he stays epistolar (and not termi) then there is no room for vortex but avanger is better (still not bad with gate)... I prefer null zone, but then again I play with cc termies and null zone is invaluable for nerfing tough MC (or other termies)...

Null Zone really comes into it's own when you're presented with this: a daemon army. It's like 5++ invul base is nothing great, now he has to reroll successful ones?! Evil. It is just evil and I love it.

Are you sure about that? In necron FAQ there is a question if wraith (who has only inv save in codex) has only inv save, or does it count as normal save too... And the answer was that it is normal 3+ save and inv 3+ (while the codex only listed inv save)...

I'm talking about an ENTIRE army with invuls.

I know... Each deamon has only inv save in it's codex... But so does wraith... But in FAQ wraith HAS in fact a normal save despite the fact he's missing it in codex... Does that mean that it's same for daemons?

What Chinch means is that if a model is listed as having only an Inv save, does that mean he has both saves at the same level, but the normal doesn't show, or is the normal save completely absent? Judging by the Necron FAQ, they have both.

Ugh, it's GW, when are they ever perfectly clear on that? Or for that matter anything?
