I am totally new to gaming and want to learn to play 40K and/or Warmachine/Hordes. Kind of hesitant to just randomly show up at a gaming shop and ask for a pick up game, since I have 0 experience. Looking for a group to learn with and play against.

I am in Florence, but willing to travel.

Well, if you can get to Greenville, there is Borderlands. Both 40k and Hordesmachine are played fluently there. Heroes and Dragons has a budding 40k scene in Columbia.

Sometimes just showing up on game night is the best way to go. Most folks at Borderlands would love to run a teaching game, dont know about H&D but would imagine so. Call ahead for game nights, but Thursday nights and Saturdays are great at Borderlands. They have a heck of a lot of WHFB action going on these days with 8th edition, but that;s prolly just like most other places.

Heroes and Dragons has a good 40k scene. We've got a group of folks who also play WarmaHordes regularly and will be glad to help. The big day is Saturday at Heroes. Supposedly some folks do play on Sundays but I've not made it down there for that.

It's been a long time since this post, but I'm also in Florence, SC and would like to find someone nearby to play Warmachine with.

I guess this counts as necroing but I'm in Florence SC now and I'm looking for a place to play
