(I hope this is where this goes)

Anyways I'm a pretty cheap guy cash wise but I still like buying miniatures and the fun that goes with them. Anyways though I know that Warhammer tends to tip on the larger end of the 28mm scale and a lot of other miniatures that are 28mm would look pathetically small or just really slimmed down compared to GW products. But I was thinking of starting a small Warriors of Chaos army and I love the warrior models but not too crazy about the marauders. I still wish to field them but just not use GW's models. I was thinking of using ancient/dark age models to represent them for they are cheap and still come with many of the options Marauders have (barring flails. I have yet to see another company make handheld flails plastic). I know historical/non GW companies get a certain stigma but I'm not a guy hell bent on details so as long as I can see some details its fine. Plus the tiny models might make the regular warriors look even more intimidating!

I think it works, especially in the sort of manifestation you're describing. If ALL your marauders are consistently scaled amongst other marauders then super. Plastic Celts all woaded up in a warhammery way could look excellent. Work in some GW-esque elements to really tie them in and you could have something there.

Obviously you won't be allowed to use them in GW stores, but I'm assuming that isn't a concern.

yea I know that road all too well when it comes to non gw stuff. I swear any time time alt minis are mention in warhammer (especially on the internet) you always have the a group going "lol good luck playing in a store!"

not everyone has a official gw store (well I actually do!) or a heavy product rule store near them

Eh, I'd rather people repeat it endlessly than have some guy convert up his dream army only to be told to take a hike by his local.

Have you taken a look at Warlord's plastic Celts?
They have open hands that you could convert up some flails for pretty easily. Plastic marauder flail toppers should be all over the place, bitz wise.
