Well, I see it as monolith has a range of incredibly unfair rules.
I'm a little confused as to the exact ruling on the anti-2D6 rule.
My question is:
It ignores melta
It ignores 2D6 Pen of any kind [chainfists]
it ignores AP1
It ignores Darnath Lysander
It ignores seismic hammers.
Are all these statements true, or have I been cheated on.
it seems very overpowered...

As far as I can recall, Living Metal never allows more than one dice to be rolled for armor penetration, and is immune to the special effect of Lance weapons.
Cant remember about the AP1 thing, but yes monoliths are ridiculously hard to kill, especially in 5th with the reduced effectiveness of glancing.
ATM its basically bring S10 or GTFO

Well, if the monolith wasn't hard to kill, all of us Necron players would be SOL. It has the only template weapon, and the only thing that can dish out AP3 besides over priced heavy destroyers.
But, it does not ignore AP1.

-Jumps in to Nitpick- It has the only Blast Marker weapon. The Necron army, surprisingly, has not a single Template weapon! -Jumps out- -Jumps Back in- Oh, and it doesn't Ignore anything that messes with the Damage Dice, only the Penetration Dice. -Flies away on a rainbow-

Bring Str 9 ordnance, You still get the 2d6 pick one for armour penetration ordnance. It does not ignore "Darnath Lysander" in any way shape or form.
Id bet money that if you get Lysander into melee with a lith, its gone, So uve been cheated, ask to read the monolith entry next time your opponent does this.
My baneblade took 3 shots at a monolith, on the 3rd turn of full firing, the right sponson lascannon got a destroyed wrecked. Lascannons are viable if you have 6+ of them.
Str 9 and 10, ordnance, ORBITAL BOMBARDMENT FROM SPACE MARINE CHAPTER MASTERS, all that kind of stuff does really well.

Uhm, last I checked, rolling 2d6 pick the highest is rolling more then one d6 for armor pen..

well, they're called blast TEMPLATES .
There are also flamer templates.
So there are, to me anyway, three different types of template weapons. Automatically Appended Next Post: They don't ignore the rules for ordnance either. They still roll 2d6 and choose the highest according to the codex.

Actually, they never used the word template to describe a blast marker in the BRB.
And I did not know that... not like it matters for my army, but worth knowing!

the Mono doesn't ignore Ordinance. the Living Metal entry specifically mentions that Ordinance still gets to roll 2d6 and pick the highest.

And the Monolith is not overpowering, as it cannot move faster than SIX inches a turn and if evaoprated on a roll of a 6 in the Vehicle Damage Charts, all those cowering Necrons behind it are now in for a wurld of hurt.

MEQ, and if you kill one, then he makes his WBB roll, your heart kinda sinks. Of course this is assuming res orb is nearby.

Well, I suppose you're right. They are referred to as blast "markers." I'm too used to war machine I guess.
They'll always be templates to me . Even if GW doesn't call them that. After all, as Shakespeare once wrote, "A template by any other name... er... is still.... uh... a template?" Ahhhhhh, that eloquent text sends shivers down my spine upon every reading.

To be fair, GW are actually a little inconsistent with it themselves in various codexes.

it's also important to remember that GW isn't all read or proof read by one person; They can't always be consistent.

Don't forget how whenever the lith suffers a weapon destroyed result it subtracts -1 gauss shots. Now I don't know about you, but d6 - (-1)= d6+1 to me.
