Been an Eldar player for a while, but I thought that I would have a dabble in a SM army. I like the fluff of the Templars the most, so here goes:

HQ

EC - Accept any Challange... 140

Marshel - 2LC, Term Hons, IH, Holy Orb of Antioch, Frags 161

Elites

Sword Brethren Squad(7) - PW, LC, Frags, Furious Charge, BP/CCW 238
Rhino - EA, SL

Dreadnought - Venerable, Tank Hunter, Las, ML 165

Troops

Crusader Squad 235
- 7 Initiates MG, Fist, Frags
- 3 Neophytes BP/CCW
- Rhino EA, SL

Crusader Squad 231
- 7 Initiates Flamer, Fist, Frags
- 3 Neophytes Shotgun
- Rhino EA, SL

Crusader Squad 201
- 6 Initiates LasC, Bolter
- Razor TLLasC

Heavy Support

Predator Destructor - Auto, 2TLLasC 125

Total: 1498
------

First time that I have put together a SM list, but it is intended to be a balanced list. Not intended to be a tournament army, but I would like to be competitive at my LGS.
EC and Marshal intended to join the Sword Brethren in their Rhino. The Sword Brethren and Crusaders are (obviously) intended to get into CC quickly, with the Dread, Pred and Razor squad intended to provide fire support.
Any feedback would be awesome.

I have sword brethren, but never used them they cost alot and you could just get another 10 sqaud for that price or reforce the ones you got, dreads are good every one tells me to take two in a force but never followed that word of mouth, and the pred you did good, what kind of army you fighting? and I would split the commaders up in diffrent rinos spread out the power, and the marshel is pretty good because of the LD 10 he gives every one but all of your soldiers are in rinos so really no need for him I would get a chaplin insted. I am pretty new so just take all of that with a grain of salt.

At my FLGS, I pretty much have come up against everything but DH/WH, DA and other BT.

From my point of view on the Sword Brethren:
Brethren V Crusaders
More weapons options, veteran skill, looks cool(er)
V
Scoring
The main price difference comes from the weapons options chosen and the built in veteran skill choice. I decided that the higher CC potential (furious charge/counter attack) outwieghed the benefit of another scoring unit. But feel free to convince me otherwise.

I can see your point about the Marshal, in that the LD "boost" he gives would more be suited to a footslogger army. I will see what I can do to squeeze in a chaplain instead. Also see your point on splitting the two HQ's up.

Was thinking of dropping the dread for another Autolas pred, but I do like that fact that a tank hunter dread is effectively a S10 lascannon/S9 ML. Hmm, decisions.

I don't like Sword Brethren. I suggest taking LC Terminators with FC. They are a killer unit especially if you add a chaplain and they ride in a LRC.

Quick napkin math:
7 Assualt Terminators + appropriately geared chaplain + LRC = 550+ points. At 1500, thats a fair chunk of my points. However, my larger lists will definitely include it.

The problem with the current BT rules is that lots of their units (rhinos/razorbacks, bikes, assault squads, power armoured veterans etc) are more expensive or worse than the codex SM counterparts.

If I were building a list I'd focus on the bits that are still fairly up-to-date. Land raiders lack the newer machine spirit rule, but are still a decent buy, especially the LRC. I would base an army around 2-3 of those. Take at least one terminator squad (or terminator command squad) as it's the cheapest way to get combat power. Take some 5-man crusader squads with a heavy weapon, and some predators, for long-range support. Currently your list has a lot of vehicles that are cheaper for normal SM, and one rather mediocre assault unit, the veterans. Unfortunately regular crusader squads are outclassed by blood angels and space wolves, especially since their power fists are only A1.
