Hi everybody. I was hoping to get some advice from people that use Vallejo paints. I've never tried them, and even though I'm tempted to go ahead and by the full line of Game Color paints, my brain is telling me to try them out first. It seems that if you don't get the full line, Game Color comes in 16 packs that have a color theme (German WWI, Roman Auxiliaries etc.). I'm going to get back to work on my Iron Warriors army. Which kit would give me the colors I'd need?

I'm also looking at getting a basic airbrush and some of the Vallejo Air line. The metallics for this line look really spectacular; and I figure I'll need that for base coating my IWs. Air Primer Black and the silver metallics are on my short list here.

Thanks a lot for the feedback Dakka.

I would love to, but my FLGS doesn't carry them. And I can't find individual bottles anywhere. So rather than order a few online and pay just as much in shipping as I do in paint...I figured I'd get one of the kits.

Well, I should've just spent a little more time on eBay apparently. http://cgi.ebay.com/VALLEJO-GAME-COLOR-INTRO-SET-16-/370420303147?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0 That particular listing has the colors listed and I didn't realize that so many of the colors have the same if not similar names. The Intro Kit has Gold, Silver, Gunmetal (Boltgun?) and a Stonewall Grey. Along with Black and White, that should be a good start imo.

I feel a little But if anyone has any color suggestions from the Vallejo line that isn't in that kit, please tell me and I'll be sure to pick up a bottle.

The War Store carries them individually... so does superherogameland.com.

The VGC (Game colour) line is really similar to the GW stuff and very nice ...all but the metallics.

The VMC (Model colour) line has fantastic metallics, probably the best of any miniature line imo, with the exception being GW mithril silver.

what gunhazard said. Personally though I like the metals.

just an FYI, their colours are not always the most consistent, so batch to batch colours will vary slightly. Their scab red is never dark enough and the dark angel green is never dark enough.

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.
