So... not sure if this should be on the 40k army list section, however not being and army list at all, i posted here.
Hi everyone, once again i've put myself to the task of finishing my IG army, mainly because since GK might be gone as allies next year, and i used to run 6 termies on my list got lots of points that now need to be filled. (I also infliated my list using characters)
However i decided is time to make a descent IG army, and i don't want to fall on the leaf blower, a lil mech yeah sure, but not to the point that everything is on a chimera hehe, i was thinking on some list to make use of sanct psykers as well, so i'm asking for help for some ideas of what should be on a descent IG 2000pts list with pyskers on it.
If it's of any use the IG models that i own atm are:
Yarrick
Straken
1 command squad (the old metal one plus a melta guardsmen)
1 commisar
2 Jr. command squads (one with 2 sniper rifles and vox and the other one 3 plasmas and vox, both with a commissar)
4 squads of 10 guardsmen (1 granade launcher and vox on each)
2 heavy weapon teams (Lascannons & heavy Bolter)
1 veteran squad with meltas
1 Marbo
2 leman russes
1 chimera
IIRC that's pretty much all i pure IG i have (not counting =][= ), so i'm open to anything i'll start buying new models if necesary, however i'd like to make the more out of the ones i have atm.

firstly, yeah, this should probably go into either army lists or tactics.
secondly, I don't actually see any psykers in what you're proposing.
Thirdly, taking 3 special characters in 2000 points will only lead to ruin.

Hehe those are the models i own, not my list, i'm planning on buying some psykers, therefore adapt my list around them, and yeah, i know that army was meant to fail, thats why now i want to pimp it.

Ah, so there are basically two uses for PBSs
1.) they let you run leman russes that are cheaper than leman russes, and don't require you to field vehicles. Basically, they're a long-range demo charge (your only other option if you want to throw down pie plates in an infantry-only army).
2.) coupled with copious amount of pinning weapons, they can basically lock your opponent's army down. Key units will always be pinned, or, alternately, running off the board. There is also a neat trick of combining PBSs and power blobs to get lots of sweeping advances in.
Note that lots of armies have ways to mitigate this (like being mechanized or using some other form of specific psychic defense.
Either the PBSs support and infantry army, or you're going to have to completely rearrange your army to use PBSs (which I wouldn't recommend).
In either case, I'd focus on cleaning the rest of your list up first.

One of the nastier things one of my IG buddies does is take a maxed out Psyker Battle Squad and use their power to drop a unit's leadership to 2. Then he has ratling snipers shoot and pin the unit down. Alternately, he'll load on the fire and make that unit retreat. If you're crafty with outflanking and maneuvering your units, you can make that unit run off the table.
Use the plastic Empire Flagellants instead of the metal sanctioned psyker models. Cheaper and more options for customization.

PSB + Calidus Assassin = doom for any unit. With the added bonus of forcing you to take the Inq Lord might as well give him the board wide Psyhcic Hood, what a shame.

While I love the PBS/Callidus combo, he did state that this is in preparation for no more allies.............
Even so, I think the PBS is a good support unit. Large blast witha 36" range, main weakness being it's random AP (I seem to always roll a 4 or higher). However, Weaken Resolve is generally their bread and butter. I usually save them for last and then WR whatever unit has taken enough casualties and either threatening my lines or is close to their table edge. I don't work the pinning angle so much, but it is a viable use of the PBS.
