This was my entry in the Battlegroup section of the P3 Grandmasters painting competition. They were awarded a silver medal.

The color scheme was a challenge from my wife. I had already started painting up some of Magnus' warjacks with tons of battle damage on them, and wanted to make this battle group match. She decided that the blue on them especially needed to be more impressive (subtle blending mixed with strong contrast of the darkest to lightest colors). I think they turned out pretty well.

Anyway, here they are.

I've posted them all up on CMON, if you feel like voting, I won't stop you:

These are fantastic. The light blue blending on the armor and weathering effects are very well done.

Although it doesn't suprise me, you have done it again.
Great work. I'm really liking the chipping.

Thank you.

The battle damage on these guys is pretty much what I normally do for damage and weathering, with just a little more eye for detail.

I don't mind people asking about my techniques at all.

I've done some write ups on both painting male faces and on battle damage.

Those write ups are all about general principles, though, so they don't have as much on the specific colors I used. So:

Magnus' face was painted first in P3 Midlund Flesh, then shaded with Skorne Red and Traitor Green (both mixed with Midlund flesh, except in the darkest areas).

The face was highlighted using Rynn Flesh. The red around the eyes included a little bit of Sanguine Base, and the grey I used for the 5 o'clock shadow was Ironhull Gray.

Those are all P3 colors, but the principle is the same with any line of paints.
