I was thinking of using my old Genestealer cult/corrupted PDF models to do a 'counts as' Imperial Guard army. An Eversor assassin's stats would be good for the Patriarch, but I don't see any rules for taking assassins in the IG codex. Is there a way for guard to take assassins in 5th edition, and where is that rule? There doesn't seem to be one in the Daemonhunter's PDF. If there is a way, is it something like 'just pay for the assassin', 'take an inquisitor and the assassin', or something way different? I just can't see taking a genestealer cult army without at least one really scary hand to hand guy mixed in, and guard don't have anything that fits.
Callidus assasin's 'A word in your ear' lets them move a unit 6" at the end of the deployment phase. Do you just pick up the unit and put it down up to 6" away from where it started, or is it limited like actual movement, and is it different between Daemonhunters and Witch Hunters? To make it clear, say I've got a Razorback flanked by a vindicator and predator with two rhinos behind them all facing north and the Callidus's player wants to move the razorback 6" south so that it's behind the rhinos.

1) You need to have a Paper version of the codex, which contains the Allies rules. This will let you take an Inquisitor Lord and an Assassin in an IG army (for the next 6 or so months before the new Inquisition codex comes out and stops you). 2) It moves as if it had actually moved. In your example, the Razorback would not be able to do this.

I dont know if this is highly illegal on dakka, and solemnly apologize if it is, but seeing the inquisition codex is now free, I may as well state that [redacted by moderator].
Pretty much, take an inquisitor lord as a HQ, and you may also take one assassin as an elite. They may never act like a normal HQ (IE starting on the board or joining units) but would be cool from a fluff wise point of view. Alternatively, in friendly gaming, just ask if you can ignore the whole inquisitor thing.

Yes, it is against the rules.
DakkaDakka policy on torrents is "Don't ask. Don't tell."
Everyone knows they are out there. They are illegal. We can't stop users searching for them, but we don't let them be facilitated on the site.

Thanks, that's what I thought on both questions. Taking an inquisitor lord and retinue isn't really a problem, that will be the Magus (or another high ranking 4th gen hybrid) and his cronies. The inquisitors powers seem to fit a bit better than the primaris psycher anyway.

I've already got the Codex from the GW site, but rather annoyingly it doesn't have the alliance rules. I'll just use the store's codex to check the alliance rules and print off the stat sheets for the two units I'll be using, I don't think anyone will have a problem with that.

Friendly games you may not have an issue, however most tournaments will require you to have the paper codex - not difficult to find on ebay, a few quid at most.
It doesnt have the alliance rules as they will be null and void ina few months in any case, when Grey Knights is released. Sensibly not including them reduces the chances of people buyng new models to take advantage of a soon-obsolete rule.
