Ok, so im new to the game and its history...but I know that some armies have their leader as a playable hq unit. Now the impirium is extreamly large and important and they keep all of their high priority people and places under strict guard, and usualy with their best men. Incase you havn't gotten where im going with this..im sugesting that GW or FW makes the main king or lord or both. Any ideas on weather this is a good idea? or on what abilities and rules he would have.

If you're saying using Generals and Chapter Masters, we kind of already have that. ie.Calgar and..Maybe Yarrick or Creed...No one technically owns IG regiments, except possibly the company commanders..Dunno.

If you're talking about mixing IG and SM Hq choices, no. Bad idea. I don't want lysander in IG.

The top dawg in the Imperium would be the Emporer, and he's been in Stasis for 10,000 years(give or take).
The guys right below the Emporer in The Imperium are nothing but Quill-pushers and fat cats.
Go down another rung and you got the Inquisition and the Church.

You could pull a Head Priest or the Grand Inquisitor, but to really get what you're talking about, it would have to be The Emporer, And he just reeks of Beardy Cheese(after they make up a fluff reason why he'd be able to live outside of stasis again).

Ok. How about a Lord? like Lord Solar Macharius? Even though hes dead, they could still make a unit after him, or Promote someone to a lord. In which case this unit would still be extremely good and w/ numerous spec. rules. And as far as getting the emperor out of stasis a new campaign would be needed. For either of these units to exist...a new campaign would be necessary except for Marcharius. Such as chaose Finaly breaking out of the gate, or starting to. This would probibly require new and stronger units for Both chaos armies, The forces of the imperium, necrons, and the help of eldar. If anything it would be an expansion.

But does a Lord Commisar speak for the Ultramarines? for someone to fit the whole "Main king" of the Imperium thing, you need someone that could speak for the whole Imperium.

Abbadon can speak for all of Chaos because he has been blessed by all the Choas Gods (Well as much as one can speak for all of chaos)

Aun'va can speak for all of the non renagade Tau because he is the Head Eatherial.

Vect can speak for all the Dark Eldar(as much as one can) because he is the leader of the Dark Eldar because he is the most "resourceful"

You'd need someone like those 3. The Founder of the Imperium would be the closest you could get to that.

Calgar fits that bill Afaic, he might as well be the mini-emprah

But Calgar speaks for The Blood Angels as much as Dante Speaks for the Ultramarines.

Now a Primarch of any Loyal Chapter might, MIGHT, be able to take the helm of Supreme Imperial Commander while the Emperor is in Stasis, but it would pretty much have to be the Emporer.

This is a problem.....Commissar Yarrick is pretty cool.

But then we are back to the whole "can a Commisar speak for a Space Marine" deal.

Warriors of Ultramar gave a good example of this. The plans for fighting off the Nids were almost completly Controlled by Kryptman, The Mortifators, a handful of Deathwatch marines, and the Ultramarines.

We had him in previous versions of the Guard Codex. He's still only going to speak for the Guard. That's kind of the point of the Imperium's set-up... while Warmasters can theoretically command all of the Imperium's different military branches, they can in practice only do so if those various branches consent to be commanded.

The only people actually in control are the High Lords. Although even there it's questionable as to whether the Space Marine Chapters all feel obliged to listen to them. There is no one person in total control, other than the Emperor... which is theoretically in control, but hasn't (verifiably) spoken to anyone in almost 10000 years.

Thats why I say we would need a new expansion of event to happen to make them react. This also would need stats spec rules, mayby a new spec rule. idk. though enterd my head and i figured id post it. ive given the units thoughs such as body guard=s and how it would work. but idk how to make that unit be there to begin with.

and by the way, Dante has very large influence over the Ultra Marines.

He was given complete control of the Tactical situation on Armageddon when the Blood Angels arrived.

Marneus Calgar actually stepped down for him. Dante is, afterall, the older Chapter Master there is (600-1100 years, probably older due to records not going back far enough)

Dante was a poor example in retrospect, but you get what I mean. The only person would fit the bill for this would be the Emporer or maybe a Loyal Primarch.

Well certain Primarchs are still alive.

Lion 'El Johnson for example is in stasis in the middle of the Dark Angel's monastery.

If you want some nice rules for super-men, type Tempus Fugutives in on Google, make an account, and download their Horus Heresy ruleset. They have rules for almost every Primarch.

thanks gray spark. And whats wrong with an emperor unit? i know its highly improbible that he would be of his lazy butt fighting...this is why i say new chapter or expansion. Such as his world is getting invaded, chaos breaks out of gate.

The way I've always viewed having the Emperor in the game, is that it'd be cool, but he'd have to be made so weak, that it would not be a true appreciation of how strong he actually was.

For example, the stats for the Primarchs used by Tempus Fugutives is really the closest to accurate I've seen.

WS 10/9 S6 T6 I6 and so on.

For the Emperor, he'd have to be like...

WS 21 S8 (plus how awesome his weapons were) T7 A10 I10 and so on...

He'd have to be 10's across the board, Immune to all pychic powers, fearless,and Aun knows what else....

Edit: I know! Terminator Armor, Passive +3 invul(just for being awesome), Mastercrafted Powerfists With twinlinked autocannons, a special rule that overrides the Slowness of Powerfists....

...He's stronger than that you know Well of course except his toughness and strength... he wasn't a greater Daemon you know. Still "human"...

and his terminator armor would be considered a 1+ with a 2+ invulernable.

Since 1's always fail... it just means you need to be super strong to ignore his save.

He could still overrun despite having terminator armor.

May split his attacks between these two weapons

His awesome sword +1 str (always strikes first)

His Eagles Talon - Instant Wound

Holy Aura of Terra - 24" units are fearless and gain furious
charge, counter-attack, and +1 attack.

Incredible Willpower - Everytime he 'dies' he comes back with 1 wound and -1 all stats (besides wounds and leadership), and -1" when he moves and runs to a minimal of 1. Once his toughness reachs 1 the Emperor finally succumbs and falls down defeated.



I guess that's my view on him.

This is how the Emperor should work. The Emperor deploys first, no matter what the scenario. As soon as the Emperor is deployed, consult the opponents army list. If the Opponent does not have Horus, or all four C'tan, roll a d6. If the die does not combust mid-roll, you win.

Wasn't he nearly strangled to death by a warboss? He may be the greatest man to ever live, but he is still just a man.

Maybe have a Warmaster HQ template + come out with a kit. Kind of like the Marine Chapter master or Captain options.

The emperor should never be playable..Unless it's a million point apoc battle or something.

I'd say he should be impossible to kill, but horus got pretty damn close, and abaddon is basically horus now, so......The emperor should be killable.

Ah, this too. Without body guards and loyal servants, a unit of marines could possibly slay him. Or a lascannon to the face, or a battlecannon to the face.

@ImpGuardPanzies: That's not what he asked . But at the same time that's pretty bad net-iquite on his part. The main "point" behind what he posted, I believe, was that your ideas are all over the place, you don't seem to be in tune with the current fluff and you are jumping on board with any idea that is posted by two people in line with eachother; these are often traits of younger players whos contributions\questions are dismissed faster then others. Also given your join date and the evidence that you may be a younger player it seems possible that you may have just started playing 40K in which case critisism of the game without having experiance playing it is often frowned upon. In any case Samus_aren115 is looking for a reason this thread is going in the non-direction that it is and is wondering if it would be worth his effort to continue following this thread.

EDIT: Also your stat line and including every super-power special rule without consideration for game balance or scale contributes to the idea that you are a younger player.
