Seriously, what are they? Some generic enemy of the imperium?

Gathering the Informations.

You mean "Hrud"?

They're, for all intents and purposes, simply described as "space Skaven".

They utilize weird as hell technology, live in the bowels of worlds and ships, migrate in vast hordes, and appear in places with no real reasoning why or how they appeared.

Here's something Blackhand's been cooking up along Hrud lines.

There's a bit of fluff in the ultramarines omnibus about how uriel is using a gun of hrud origin, and they describe it as a mix of plasma and melta, which is wierd. It got me interested :3

So space skaven? Makes sense. I figured they were animals with a name like Hrud

Hrud are really just there because its hard to have plot and intrigue in the 40k universe with any of the major factions because their stated purpose is always "KILL fething EVERYTHING!!!" or some variant. The Hrud also don't really present enough of a presence or influence to deserve a codex... I hope...

Also littlenibbler Orks aren't about armour saves.
Orks are about having too many models on the table, and wasting the other guy's time with your movement phase.
Orks are about having the toughest units on the table.
Orks are about not caring about how many bodies are left in a long winding trail until the squad is down to less than a third its starting strength.
Orks are about rolling more dice then you can count without the aid of a calculator or a pen and paper.
Orks are about having totally fething insane characters tearing gak down like Doc Grotsnik, Ghazghkull or Snikrot.
Orks are about being too fething awesome to die...
Lets settle this in the arena http://pantsformer.mybrute.com

@Jaon: No, Jokaero were the space orang-utans - makers of fine high tech miniaturised ring weapons (what digital weapons are. They are weapons made to look like jewellery).

I've also heard that while capable of making intricate pieces of technology, Jokaero lack high brain functions. Any truth to that or am I misrembering?

They used to be assumed to be space skaven. More recently, however, their physical makeup was shown to be more tentacle limbed shadow dudes. No skaveny traits, except for liking darkness and stuff.

They have no language and basically build whatever they need for whatever it is at the time.

They have a genetic affinity for technology like Mekboys.

It's also the reason why they aren't captured and used to pump out digital weapons, because they would just use everything they had to build something to escape with.

Ah. That's where digital weapons come from...Isn't there something to explain all these random xenos?

Isn't there a publication on xenos by GW?

Actually it was the jokero that made digital weapons. Hrud had warp-infused weapons technology from what i've heard.

That's wierd. I'm pretty sure necrons are known by the imperium. Why classify it as 'unknown'?

Because at the time of publication, Necrons were a mysterious force that kept raiding outposts and leaving no survivors.

Pretty much. Like has been said. They have an innate ability to make these digital weapons. But lack any semblance of true intelligence. So are pretty much made the most of for their talents. I think they're looked upon more of as a particularly talented animal.

So the necrons were operational before the nightbringer was released? I thought they only found necrons after Uriel's massive blunder....Although that invalidates a lot of fluff, so I'm sure they were doing something.

Welcome to the wonderful powers of recton

werent the necrons NOT alinged with the ctan until their most recent book?

anyways there are a whole lot of non codex xenos out there. Ranging from "space dwarves with ion tech" (not squats) to the deadly umbra

I'm totally off with my necron fluff. I know almost nothing about them. If I'm talking about necrons, it usually has a question mark after it?

Note that these two aren't totally inconsistent. The first picture could indicate a Hrud under the layers of rotting, filthy clothing that often grace their bodies, while the second could indicate a Hrud starkers. Compare a trooper in a Ghillie suit to a girl in a skimpy swimsuit. Same species.

Actually there is one glaring inconsistency.

The third edition one had a tail.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Not necessarily inconsistent: The Xenology specimen arrived heavily decomposed, so the actual appearance remains blurry.
But the Xenology artist is known to make errors as well: Kroot have only three fingers instead of 4, Tau Ethereals have feet instead of hooves.
