Has anyone else noticed that BoLS seems to be losing it? The battle reports are terrible with a terrifying lack of terrain, they put out updates days late (just look at the post about the Ultramarines movie) their product reviews are vastly inferior to ones you find on Dakka or other blogs (look at their Bloodcrusher review compared to Dakkas or CNCs). They seem to generally be one-sided on specific topics without giving proper thought to the opposing argument. Even the polls they put out lately seem to be poorly crafted and one-sided just look at their latest poll about terrain. Am I alone in thinking they have slipped? I used to thoroughly enjoy the articles BoLS would put out and I just don't anymore, does anyone else feel this way or am I alone?

i think they're going for quantity of updates over quality. i swear.. sometime i think they'll next write an article about how 40k goes great with chocolate cake simply to have an article for that half day.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

I never go to BoLS without being linked to it, and then I usually regret it.

I think your title might be just a wee bit harsh, but I agree a bit with your thoughts. They were, just months back, my favorite site on the net....from quality of articles, to strategies, to, well, everything. When they started opening it up to others to produce "more," yes, I agree, the overall quality went down. (that said, they do still post amazing gems). Still, I'm jealous and envious of their dedication, time to spend on the hobby, and energy they have to put forth.

I met some of the BoLS guys when they were at WHW a while back, and there was a rules query going on. They struck me as complete balloon heads and I've never been back regularly to their site since. I may therefore be a teeny itty bit biased when say that their blog is a pile of smelly brown

There are some lovely articles on the BoLS site but I've not been looking in on them for the last few months because it kept pinging my anti-virus software.

They have good articles now and then. Sure, their batreps suck and they sometimes have articles like "TLoS is killing the game!!!!11!!oneone!!" or "Running: the rule that brings the apocalypse?" and other overly dramatic crap, but they have good articles too. I don't read the black library books, but their 40k lore articles have been a huge help to me. and the 40k askew articles? Hilarious.

Everyone knows that 40k goes better with chocolate mousse.

Ok, so where do you go then for good articles? Personally I like Dakka but I also enjoy dave taylors site and warseer and bolter and chainsword. But are there any other real competitors to BoLS? Captureandcontrol on blogspot is extremely well done but there are only 4 of them and they focus almost entirely on 40k. I wish there was a legitimate competitor to BoLS.

actually, they generally do. they may not always post the rumor's OP but they do tend to at least mention the forum/blog/site in general (and sometimes link it).

That was the most hilarious thing. It's like "If you didn't find us offputting before, you sure will now!"

If you think the quality of articles on BOLS has slipped, this would be more appropriate feedback to leave on that site, rather than this one...
