Contagious Dreadnought of Nurgle

Hi all, ive been gaming on and off for nearly 20 years and for my 30th birthday recently my lil bro gave me a master of the forge army. Its still a bit of a work in progress. I just need some good tactics for dealing with daemons and orks. The ork army is the one ill be facing most of the time, its infantry heavy and the only vehicles in it are deff dreads and a couple of trukks. My army consists of 2 five man combat squads, a 5 man scout squad, 4 dreadnoughts, a 5 man terminator squad and a master of the forge. Im not sure what to get next, but as i said, im struggling against the infantry heavy orks, they just overrun me all the time. Any help would be most appreciated. Cheers all!

Dreads are not particularly good at dealing with hordes, though they can fit a couple options that help. Assault or plasma cannons can thin hordes, and heavy flamers can massacre them. I'd personally look into making those 5 man combat squads into 10 man tactical squads with flamers and missiles to help with the thinning. Give a couple of those dreads TL autocannon to pop their ramshackle transports and you should be okay at least. Try to keep your dreads out of CC with orks, though most boyz will be unable to hurt them, every boy squad will have a nob with a hidden powerklaw that can make mince of you given enough time.
I can't suggest scouts against horde orks as they tend to be fearless and thus unpinnable. Hellfire HB can be useful though, in a target rich environment the BS3 template can't miss!

For orks, best way to get rid of them is templates (like whirlwinds, vindicators, flamers) or a lot more dakka! (like land raider crusaders)
also is that MotF on a bike with a conversion beamer? thats the usual build for him

ALL your Dreads should have HFs. Cant Ironclads take 2 HFs if they have 2 DCCWs? Asscannons would help. If you fell like it, you can take a dakkapred. I find they shred my bros orks.

Indeed. Take the HF anyways, though, since storm bolters are weak.
