Have been messing around with my army builder trying to come up with a good IG build for a first army and have been playing around with this list. On paper it looks like it would be a decent force to run with the 20+ Plasma cannon shots and 9 Lascannons with the techie keeping the tanks going and the penal squads hiding behind my tank wall to pick up any obj late game. Haven't gotten to play either as or against IG very much so I haven't seen alot of their potential yet but this seems like it could take just about anything.

Edit 1: Ok have taken out the single executioner with commander pask and added in an infantry platoon and mounted all troopers that I could into Chimeras, so now I am up to 55 scoring troops, 4 Chimeras to protect the backside and a possible 11 las cannons and 20 Plasma cannon shots.

Edit 2: Removed Marbo and the 3 sentinels, and replaced with 2 Vendettas. Still trying to get into the 5th ed army types, haven't played since 3rd edition except with my Templars that I have been messing around with at my local shop. IG just have soo many fun toys with their codex.

2k and only 2 frail troop choices? also split your sents, drop the techpriest and bodyguards, and those leman russes will get butchered since theres little protecting them from some fast meltas/power fists. you're dealing with a lot of units that cost as much as land raiders which still have a AV11 backside

OK have updated my list with a stronger footsoldier presence and tanks for them for a better rear guard for the russ's

This list will be difficult for non LR MEQ lists. The only thing I don't like is your lack of Valkyries or Vendettas. In 5th ed Mobility is key and the fact that IG have a way of doing better than anyone else, except maybe eldar. I would try to take advantage of that. I wouldn't want to face this list with my normal Salamander list I'll tell you that.

Revised main list again, removed the sentinels and marbo for 2 vendettas. I do like the trade off of 4 heavy bolters and 6 tl las cannons for 3 las cannons, but wish I could keep marbo in, hes just so useful for taking out those rear line guys.

Oklahoma City, Ok.

I'd consider getting a Sqd of Demolishers for 1 of the Executioner Sqds.
or add a Manticore instead. i think you need some STR 10 too. the Lascannons
on the Vendettas and in the PIS will need some help, imho.

okay, firstly, we all have codecies. That means instead of writing this:

Troops: Infantry Platoon (28#, 355 pts)
1 Infantry Platoon @ 355 pts
2 Platoon Command Squad (Unit Type: Infantry; Flak Armour; Frag Grenades; Close Combat Weapon x2; Lasgun x2)
1 Heavy Weapons Team (Lascannon; Frag Grenades; Close Combat Weapon x1; Flak Armour; Lasgun x1)
1 Platoon Commander (Flak Armour; Frag Grenades; Laspistol; Close Combat Weapon; Junior Officer)
1 Chimera (Unit Type: Vehicle (Tank); Heavy Bolter; Searchlight; Smoke Launchers; Turret Multi-Laser; Amphibious; Mobile Command Vehicle)
7 Infantry Squad (Frag Grenades; Close Combat Weapon x7; Flak Armour; Lasgun x7; Combined Squad)
1 Heavy Weapons Team (Lascannon; Frag Grenades; Close Combat Weapon x1; Flak Armour; Lasgun x1)
1 Sergeant (Flak Armour; Frag Grenades; Laspistol; Close Combat Weapon)
1 Chimera (Unit Type: Vehicle (Tank); Heavy Bolter; Searchlight; Smoke Launchers; Turret Multi-Laser; Amphibious; Mobile Command Vehicle)
7 Infantry Squad (Frag Grenades; Close Combat Weapon x7; Flak Armour; Lasgun x7; Combined Squad)
1 Heavy Weapons Team (Lascannon; Frag Grenades; Close Combat Weapon x1; Flak Armour; Lasgun x1)
1 Sergeant (Flak Armour; Frag Grenades; Laspistol; Close Combat Weapon)
1 Chimera (Unit Type: Vehicle (Tank); Heavy Bolter; Searchlight; Smoke Launchers; Turret Multi-Laser; Amphibious; Mobile Command Vehicle)

You can write this:

PCS-lascannon, chimera
PIS- lascannon, chimera
PIS- lascannon, chimera

Which is much easier on the eyes.

Secondly, this list is disjointed and bloated. You're spending a HUGE number of points in your troops choices just to throw a couple of lascannon shots downfield. Then, you're spending a HUGE number of points in your HS just to put a couple of plasma cannon shots downfield. After this orgy of spending, the only thing left that might actually do anything is, sad to say, the penal legionnaires, of which there are 2 squads.

I would start by getting rid of every non-weapon upgrade in this list, and the heavy weapons out of squads that will be riding in chimeras, and all your sponson weapons. Re-sprinkle with some special weapons, and play whatever points level you're left with (I'm guessing 1000 to 1500).
