Hello,

Just quick question concerning bases and miniatures. Are there any rules stating what size base you have to use for miniatures?

Like if you want to play in a tournament do you have to play on the base sizes that the models are supplied with?

Just wondering because i have rune priest that was supplied on a 25mm base but I would like to put him on a 40mm base, so i can make it look a bit better. Would this be allowed?

Basic rule from the rulebook, put it on the base it came with. With that said, few people are going to object to a character being on a 40 instead of a 25.

The "rule of cool" (and the corrolary "the rule of not confusing the heck out of me") plays a *huge* part in gaming, especially in tournaments. IF you create a kick ass model that looks awesome and blows peoples minds to look at, 99.9% (roughly) of people will probably not even notice the larger base size - unless its to comment on the fact you used one to get more awesomeness into the model

Don_mondo Is correct RAW. But this sometimes gets silly, Case in Point: I have some Terminators(3rd edition models) that are technically illegal as i glued them(old 25mm base and all) onto 40mm bases so that I could use them with my newer(4th edition on, although more specifically AOBR) Terminators; which are all supplied with 40mm Bases. Also New jetbikes come on larger Flying stand bases then older Jetbikes. Depending on individual model sometimes you get weird mixes of base-sizes depending on when the model was bought/produced.

Nos has it correct RA(mostly)P; If it looks cool and/or is done to make the unit more cohesive(all look about the same); then few people are going to complain.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

I think there are actually 3 different "fliying bases" for jetbikes, from hexagonal onwards.

IT is definitely "mostly" played - if you have ANY doubts then best thing to do is contact your TO in advance; if they agree that the model is fine as it is, then if someone has a problem in game you already have the TO on your side.

Unless it's Gabriel Seth, you're not going to get many complaints about more models able to attack it.

More correctly, RAW it must be glued to the base before it can be used (in the game)!

Edit: Sorry, gargoyle enthusiasts.

I'm also in the same predicament I have the fantasy Slaanesh lord, this guy-> http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440108a&prodId=prod1050024

to represent my Chaos lord using a steed. The steed changes him to cavalry so do I use the square base or those oblong rectangular ones that bikes and things like seekers use?

I would change him to the rounded bike base.
