Hey!

As usual, I'm playing with an army in my head before going cash crazy and buying chunks of stuff I won't end up using (well trying to anyways...) and was looking at the models the Beastmen have for their Heroes/Lords...

Doesn't seem to be much that isn't a special char is there?

So I was gonna see what else others are using for their heroes/lords!
Already have a few alternatives worth looking at, including:
the Dark Emissary Model back from the Albion campaign (horns, robes, and a staff? Hello Bray-Shaman!) http://www.bishco-post.com/Pics/warhammer/nurgle/daemon/Dark_Emissary_1.jpg
The Avatars of War Beastlord model (has somethin weird going on with it's left hand if you de-shield it, not sure what to do if I go for one) http://arena-deathmatch.com/images/aow11.jpg
MAYBE the Skaven Verminlord, without the tail and maybe something to make him look even more beasty, but only seems to be usable as a counts as Doombull... http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440084a&prodId=prod1140208

Otherwise, seems to be the special character models (Gorthor looks usable, seen a few Shaman conversions of him sans chariot), and the 2 old Bray Shamans and 2 old Beastlords...

Wondering what others have tried/seen, as well as what you might know about the 'gaming legality' of using such non GW or non-Army models on the table in either a FLGS or GW?

Anyways, cheers!

May as well pimp my P&M Blog here http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/231101.page I've used a lot of Rackham models and some Malifaux models as well as the Avatars of War Beastlord which is just awesome. I'd really recommend checking out both of these lines. I've also got a Wulfric the Wanderer about to get a headswap which should do the trick. Incidentally if you find a good source for a Standard Bearer let me know!

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Inside that little light in your refridgerator

Morghur makes quite a good beastlord, if you remove the root-thing he's standing on/riding.
