Plummeting Black Templar Thunderhawk Pilot

As title - I have a monstrous creature with large wings sticking out from the back (LOC).

Short of ripping my miniatures case to shreds, what's the best way of getting it around?

I used a shoe box with hot wire cut foam blocks to approximate the shape then lay them inside. The 2 Wyverns were a concern when going to games!

You can use polystyrene beads in a loose bag to lay them onto, inside a shoe box, then another on top so that the loose beads mould to the shape.

Or get a thin length of foam and roll them up in it.

If I am not in my room, is it still my room?

I magnetise the wings on my Daemon Princes. Makes them MUCH easier to transport.

Aside from the obvious answer/joke - Carefully. It's a matter of what you are using now to carry around your other troops. If you are using a commercial troop carrier tray then you may be able to get by by just putting the character face down in the tray. Just make sure that he is resting on the bottom of the tray. Leave the wings to sit on top of the edge of the foam. This way the foam supports the wings and as long as you don't have any untoward pressure resting on the figure you should be OK.
For another option check out battlefoams custom tray builder. That may be what you need.

i use something like this for my MC, but on a smaller scale, you'll find them in various sizes. i transport my Daemon prince in one, all i do is wrap his in a styrofoam blanket and put him in vertically.

You cant spell slaughter without laughter, nor funeral without fun!

I save all the foam squares from blisters as packing material. Also some of the 'plucked' pieces from pick & pluck trays. It's not perfect, and for big models I think magnetization would be best.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.
Play the games that make you happy.

Magnetize the wings with Earth Magnets. Depending the model you can usually fit 1-2 magnets per wing and they are strong enough to hold the wings in place. If you have not done this, I go by the shoe box with foam insert that is fit to the model. That's easy to achieve with Army Transport trays, I then first plug the full interest so the model fits. Then I trim those same inserts to create a nest/ cushion effect for the model so its not moving around.
