How do imperial guard platoons work with kill points? Is every squad in the platoon one or is the whole thing one kill point?

Every squad within the Platoon is one.

Why would you think it is only 1 for the whole platoon?

A platoon is a minimum of 2 KP, and that is only if you take PCS/Infantry squads only and you blob the Infantry squads. It can possbily be around 20 KP if you max it out and run every UNIT separately. Key word there, UNIT. If something is a separate UNIT, then it is a separate KP. So the Platoon Command is one KP as it is a unit and cannot be comnbined with any other squads. Each Infantry Squad is a separate unit unless you merge them, so they can be from 1-5 KP, depending on how many you bought and whether or not you merged them. Each dedicated transport, each heavy weapon squad, special weapon squad, conscript squad is a separate unit and is worth a KP.

According to GW FAQ, isnt the PCS 2 KP itself, one for the officer and one for the squad? Then any squads one each after that

The FAQ is talking about the Old Codex.

Games workshop in their Infinite Wisdom(!) decided not to remove it when the Codex came out.

Just one of many reasons to generally ignore most of the FAQ material.

Also the PCS ISNT 2 KP even if you trust the FAQ, as the FAQ references a unit name that no longer exists....

1 kp for the pcs.
1 per unit additional. Minimum platoon is 2 squads/units plus pcs. Unless you combine the squads, they will yield 3 kp.

Combined it is only 2 kp.

Why would you even want to read the FAQs. We have Gwar!

I actually have a full body tattoo, but it's of an invisibility cloak, so you can't see it.
