O.k everyone, i'm turning 30 next week (does that make me an old gamer?) and my party theme is 80's, so fashion celebs or toys are all options, but it got me thinking as i slipped on my gen 1 Optimus Prime costume ( I wear it when I Dakka) what are some of your favorite toys from the era? I can think of some I loved and have been trying to collect off ebay since!
*Transformers (of course)
*Battle beasts
*monsters in my pocket
*G.I Joe/C.o.r.p.s
*Teenage mutant Ninja turtles! ('cos they're ninja's)
*He Man (love the hair)
*Micro machines
*Lego (the good old stuff with heaps of cool parts)
*Mad balls
*garbage pail kids (collectors cards, not toys exactly but damn cool)
so can you think of some more?

Hmm, lets have a look at your list first..
*Transformers (of course) - Obviously had these
*Battle beasts - can't remember those, non Uk?
*monsters in my pocket - yep had a few, my slightly younger brother was into them more mind
*G.I Joe/C.o.r.p.s - lived and breathed these fellas for a long time, collected figures, comics and the TV stuff, one of my all time fave toy lines. Still have a box full of them ontop of the wardrobe.
*Teenage mutant Ninja turtles! ('cos they're ninja's) - my youngest brother went nuts on these, although I liked the original Graphic novels a lot.
*He Man (love the hair) - yeah another fave, really was enjoying the 2004 re-imagining as well, shame it got cancelled just before Hordak joined the party.
*Micro machines - aye had a few.
*Lego (the good old stuff with heaps of cool parts) - had tons of this.
*Mad balls - no idea, must have missed out.
*garbage pail kids (collectors cards, not toys exactly but damn cool) - had absolutely loads of the stickers, me and my middle brother went mad on the stickers for a long time. Been trying to hunt down a copy of the movie for a age as well.
Others..
Visionaries - loved the toys and the cartoon.
Star Wars - seriously, you didn't have any? Eveyone I knew had Star War's toys through the 80's.
Robotech- maybe I was a odd one out, but one of the local stores got a load of this stuff, really though it was great, even If I didn't see the actual Anime to much later.

I missed the Atari, had a C16 and then a C64, before jumping to an Amiga in the early 90's.

There were also Air Raiders. I remember the commercial vaguely where these kids had strings all over the place and the dolls, sorry 'action figures', would zip along using these air pressurized back packs.
There was also MASK, with that ridiculous flying car.

The New Miss Macross!

i pretty much played the hell out of the following in order:
He Man
Transformers
GI Joe
Thundercats
TMNT
transformers was pretty much sprinkled throughout the second half of the 80's starting just after g1 began up until they started coming up with the beastmaster/headmaster/targetmaster/WTF??master crap. seriously, someone at the corporate office thought TRANSFORMERS that DON'T TRANSFORM was a good idea??? while i enjoyed the star wars movies, the toy craze was over before my allowance got me to the point where i could afford them and by that time they were coming out with any new stuff.
i didn't buy a whole lot of the toys but i also enjoyed visionaries (have the whole run of the comics!), air raiders (haven't seen that one mentioned yet), and robotech macross stuff. Automatically Appended Next Post: crap, forgot the legos. they were a staple of my 1980's.

Rouge trader? Don't recall that one. Sounds like a game of galactic makeup trading. Avon goes Galactic.
/sarcasm. Unless you were referring to the oft misspelled "ROGUE trader" game meme thing.
Battletech is still going strong. Goes under the name of "classic battletech" now. Many of the players refer to it as CBT (but DO NOT google for this in images unless you have the safe filter on. CBT is a reference to something altogether more painful looking.)

Defenders of the earth!...that was a cool show....with the strength of ten tigers....Phantom!
