Ok so the reason I posted this is to get feedback on how I should approach painting my Tau army.
This is after the cleaning of mold lines and partially/fully assembling of models!

Using this picture as a guide :

Step 1: Prime using a black primer!

Step 2: Basecoat using Necron Abyss and Bestial Brown and trying to avoid all the dark recesses.

Added step: Drybrush Bestial brown with a lighter brown.

Step 3: Wash browns with Devlan Mud and Dark Blues with Asurmen Blue.

Step 4: Paint Icy Blue areas and Boltgun Metal Area.

Step 5: Paint Fine Details E.g Reds(Blood Red) and Yellows(Burnished Gold).

Step 6: Highlight Icy Blue edges with Skull White(May be tinted with Icy Blue if its too bright)

Possible Step 7: Wash Yellow with Devlan Mud if its too bright.

So comments and suggestions on how I could improve this are appreciated

The only thing that I would change, from my own experiance is to give the cloth parts of the Fire Warrior a quick drybrushing of a lighter color, it really helps to break up the cloth more.

Haha should have known some1 would have mentioned dry bruhshing at somepoint, one of the techniques iv not quite perfected yet. But shall give it a try on some crumpled paper 1st to see if i get the effect needed.

Would i do that before or after the Devlan Mud wash??

After, easiest way to get good at dry brushing is to get an actual purpose made drybrush. The GW drybrush are really good, and are the only GW brush that I use.

Drybrushing before the wash will help hide the texture/brushstrokes creathed by the drybrushing.

Drybrushing after the wash will create more contrast between the basecoat and highlight, but depending on how much you drybrush, it will create an often noticeable texture.

Personally, I would drybrush and wash as it tends to be smoother and the colors look more unified.

As for washing the yellow with black, use brown instead. It will look more natural.
