Remove standard and techpriest. Give that CCS Special weapons. Move all commissars to their respected infantry squads. Get rid of the power weapons. Maybe drop the voxes on the vets for more weapons (and mind as well switch to shotguns). drop heavy bolters on the leman russes. maybe even lose one from the squad (makes them killable by immobilizing). Extra armor isnt too needed. Add in more bodies and a way for your vets to get within melta range (getting rid of a banewolf gives chimera space)!

Thing is, I tend to use my CCS as an anchor for my heavy weapons teams, thus making them much more effective than if they were on their own. The standard makes my heavy weapons squads much more durable, and I find my CCS much more valuable shoring up my line than trying to go out and fight on their own.

I'll consider dropping the Techpriest...but I don't want to sacrifice his ability to repair a damaged vehicle without being able to take a lot in return. The power weapons and Commissar are in the PCS to make those my only close-combat capable squads so they can actually try and tie up someone in close combat.

For me the extra armor is there so if I'm damaged, I can still run away and save a valuable tank instead of it being a sitting duck for a whole turn.

One tactic I'm trying is a kind of tank desant charge. The Leman Russ squadron leads the way, and the melta vets follow. The AV14 gives them cover, and they can shoot at approaching thingies with melta guns and other threats to my tanks. This will continue until the melta vets get close enough to an opponent to pop out from behind their tank and kill the target in question.

For one thing, a six man command will do little to nothing in CC even with like 4-5 power weapon attacks. plus when you fail a ld check, boom there goes your Platoon Commander. which also means the vox net will mess up. And your infantry squads will run a lot faster since even if they're blobbing up, they only have 20 guys and ld8

Hmmm....that's true. If I drop the Commissars, and the two power weapons that'll get me.....two Chimeras for my melta vets. I think I WILL go for that after all....
