Whenever the plastic Valkyrie came out (a year ago or whatever) I started converting a Valkyrie into a Chaos Valkyrie with the intent to make it demonic. So I started converting the wing into a feather and added some spikey parts ect. I was going to use it in Apoc situations with my Chaos Space Marines who I was thinking about making Tzeentch at the time. Logic step Tzeentch->Birds->Feathers on Wings.

Well now i'm working on a Chaos IG Renegades Army that is going to be Khorne. Aside from stripping the feathers off this baby I was wondering if anyone has some input on a way I could make this work out. I was trying to think of birds or flying demons that might be associated with Khorne and what little research I did came up blank. I was thinking maybe Vultures or something, anyone help me out here with some ideas?

Yea me neither. I dunno what to do about this one I really like the feathers, but it won't fit too well in my IG Army.

Put giant outrigger blades on the sides, though unuseful, they'd look cool.

Rip em off and knock up some gaint bat wings. Works fine for the greater daemons etc of Khorne.

Furies have wings, right? Maybe paint the wings black and add a skull motif for Khorne? No idea. Screams Tzeentch to me.

How bought just saying they ripped the wings offa Lordo Change and tacked em up there to annoy Tzeentch?

I wouldn't remove those feathers thought -- they look the business.

Khornate.

Try covering the wings with skulls instead of feathers. In 40K, skulls always work.

If your trying to make it a khorne Valkyrie then you should add louds of random close combat weapons on it.

Why not have an air force element of said renegade army as tzeentch worshippers?

Or, vultures are very Khorne-ey birds IMO. They get soaked in blood and they dont even care.

Have LOTS more spikes a corpse and severed limbs and heads on some of them. Some well placed chains and Khornate iconography and it's golden.

I think a good way of Khorneifying the wings would (kind of like me mate shadowbrand said) be to add severed limbs and heads and nestle them amongst the feathers.

What about flayed flesh on the wings made from greenstuff.

Think there was a decent pic in an old CSM codex

Keep the feathers just scratch 'em up and make em look real demonic and then carve a khorne symbol into the wings and paint it like it was glowing red

I agree that the feather's need some scratching up. Maybe you could have the odd clawed hand or tormented face pushing out from between the odd feather.

The Bloodthirster has wings right? I believe that they are more leathery type demonic wings. Bat type leathery wings with a more skeletal frame around them. I am not sure if that would even be possible on the Valk model though... the feathers look pretty badass though.

When I read your description the first thing that game to mind for a Khorne style flyer is the Reaper ships from Firefly/Serenity. All spikey with impaled corpses and whatnot.

Really appreciate all the support on this topic guys. Going to use a montage of the things you posted. I think for the feathers I may make them flayed layers of skin or something with a bone being the center part of the feather that'd be pretty Khorne to me. (Kinda similar to what Grimz said) I'll just have to touch up each feather to pull it off. I won't be back home till December to start on this project but I like to plan ahead. When I get it started again i'll be sure to update with pictures.

Bat wings sound good, as do bits of flesh if you can make it look good. Definitely to Tzeentchy right now. It's a shame you'll let those nice feathers go to waste with khorne.

You need a big mouth on the front and some sharp blades coming from the bottom so when it swoops low it can slice people. That's Chaos.

Make sure to put lots of impaled bodies on the nose, and paint a ton of blood splashed across the front. That's usually a pretty sure sign of Khorny influences.

Though, I'd also cover up the cockpit with some kind of Daemonic head... if it's possessed you don't want a crew ;P

I personally think the feathers alot. Why don't you just paint them a darker grayish color opposed to the bright white you would for tzeentch?

This is the exact thing I had in mind as well. Blood splattered hull, bodies chained to the wings and the like, maybe bust some of the glass in the cockpits out. This is the sort of stuff I picture for a Khorne Valk.
