Somewhere in the steamy jungles of the south...

Hey all!

First up, I have always dreamed of making a huge ruined city, but I cannot afford GW's uber-overpriced 2-3 story ruins , so I decided to build my own board as cheaply as I could. So far, I have not spent a PENNY of money on the buildings I am about to show you guys.

The below pictures are some of the tiles I have built/painted out of Chipboard. These are to cover the Green WHF table I already have, and to add more atmosphere.

And two Firewarriors, ready to vanquish the foes of the Revolution(see my Tau plog, link in my signature).

I have since ripped the buildings off of the tiles, as they felt to empty and boxy. The glued down buildings also did not allow for much modularity.

And here are the ruins I have built up/painted . I will probably have about 10-20 corner ruins by the time I am done with all of these, 5-10 frontal ruins, and one large 12"X12" 3-4 story Manufactorum that will be the centerpiece of my cityscape. I am wanting so many buildings because I need a really cramped, hectic, nerve wracking board to play on when I am done. C&C welcomed!

Is the second shot before the texture was put on?

I really like the texture, but it looks like the corrugation is really showing through in that shot.

Overall, I'm inspired to work on some ruins for my home table with these in mind!

The corrugation is another reason those buildings got trashed, as I never thought of doing texture/was to lazy! Thanks for the comments, and I hope your table goes well!

these buildings are pretty good, my only problem is the sides (ie: the parts that show the corragation inside the cardboard). you might want to do something to cover them up, maybe a wall filler or something similar.

You love it you slags!

I actually like the corrugation: I tried covering it up, and something about that bothered me.

Also, I am (as you can see) having trouble getting the links to work in my signature! Help please?

Getting rid of the " " might help. Not an expert on sigs, but you would not want it normally. The second link lacks a =.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

I got my signature to work, thanks Fifty!

I painted up the 3 story corner ruin last night, and took pictures of it this morning as I was enjoying the lovely weather we get around here...yesterday it was about 75 percent humidity, and really hot, up in the lower 90's. Today it is cold, rainy, and gray...

On the Manufactorum: I am thinking of making it like a small version of the factory from 9, complete with steeples and Gothic window arches. I want to get a couple of the GW Manufactorums and use the wall panels from them to make the building much more ornate. It will probably be painted deep red, with gold accents, and should have about 3 complete/slightly battle-damaged floors, with a narrow walkway on top. I may also do some big smokestacks.

As you can see, the rust wash I am using pooled up rather badly in spots, so I need to go back and fix that.

I am thinking of purchasing old, beat up, badly painted WH40k tanks from eBay and making little rubble piles that, say, a heavy weapons team could hunker down in, since an autocannon holed up in a abandoned Chimera is just thematically cool! If anyone has a model like that, PM me, I can work something out with you.
