What would be the legality of using "scenic models"? I was planning on adding a couple of Grots to my Boyz mobs just for fun. They would be carrying food, ammo etc and would just be purely decorative. Is there any rule preventing me from doing this as long as I make it clear that they are simply for decorative purposes?

Thanks,

depends. don't certain orks get wargear in the form of grots? like ammo grots that allow you to reroll shooting or some such? i'd avoid any models that actually resemble something described as an upgrade grot.

The Ork Codex indicates which units can have ammo grots, grot riggers, and grot assistants all of which are used for decoration/counters. As we've all heard before here in YMDC, 40K is permissive so if it doesn't say you can then you can't.

That being said - Rule of Cool wins the day and I'd let you play with them. Just don't be trying to allocate wounds to them, eh?

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell
